The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is either going to turn out to be one of the more shocking and surprising part-two sequels we’ve seen in a while, or one of the most disappointing. The film’s production has both teased and invited all sorts of possible big developments for the rebooted Spider-Man universe, and now-confirmed realities like the upcoming Venom and Sinister Six movies are putting even more pressure on Amazing Spider-Man 2 to deliver.

As we inch closer to the May premiere, we’re seeing more and more promotional material being released – seemingly strategically – to tease up certain elements of the storyline, while possibly pushing us away from other surprises that could be in store. And today’s crop of photos is no different.

The pictures tell a story all their own, and raise the following sorts of questions:

  • What is Spider-Man doing in Harry’s slob den? Does Harry know his secret identity?
  • What is it that Spider-Man is retrieving from that webbed-up Rhino?
  • It looks like Harry is definitely present at the creation of Electro – is Harry the “Two-Face” of this story?
  • Is Gwen Stacy about to be in SERIOUS peril? She IS wearing her iconic outfit in that pic, if I’m not mistaken…

As stated, exactly how we go from this second chapter to all the epic events to come in Amazing Spider-Man 3 and those villain spinoff films remains to be seen. While all of these teases are sweet and enticing, as I said, it also puts tremendous pressure on the film to live up to all the things that fans currently have bouncing around in their wild imaginations. We’ll see how it goes.

  1. Electro looks like he’s going to be intense in this movie, as well as Harry Osborn. Really can’t wait for this!

      • I know, right? Jamie Foxx??? I mean, sure he’s won an Oscar, Golden Globe, Screen Actor’s Guild Award and multiple Grammys, but other than that…? Guy’s a hack…

P.S. I never once in my life wondered why a Sinister Six movie holds zero interst for you.

        • actually winning those awards doesn’t necessarily mean a damn thing. and PS you should wonder because they are going to “F” it up…

          • Not necessarily to you, I guess. By the way, he’s also won an Image Award for television, an American Music Award, a BET Award for music and acting, multiple Image Awards for music, multiple Soul Train Awards, a BAFTA Award, multiple Film Critic Awards, multiple Image Awards for film, an MTV Movie Award, a Screen Actor’s Guild Award, and was nominated for about another five dozen other awards. Which not only says he’s muli-talented and adored by his fans but also confirmation that he is recognized and respected by his piers and critics, as well as a master of his craft.

  2. llolks like she’s inside a clocktower or something standing on the gears…looks like a lil ways down too if she were to lose her footing.

    • I was going to say gears from a drawbridge…..

  3. Still not a fan of how weirdly shiny and spandex-y the new suit looks, but I suppose that will change once I see it in motion.

Before seeing these pictures I was convinced that the scene with Spidey webbing up Giamatti in the trailer was pre-Rhino suit, but apparently the character is already involved with mysterious substances here. Weird.

  4. Everyone has been saying “Gwen Stacy is gonna die” since the inception of TASM2, so my guess is they’re gonna tease the s*** out of us with her in perilous situations, and then she ends up never dying, at least not in this film. Maybe not ever, since everyone is expecting her to. Studios always have a way of doing exactly what the fans least expect, or taking what they expect, and teasing them on it, for it to never come to fruition.

    • I think they are gonna tease the s*** out of us with her being in perilous situations, but then when we think that she’s safe and we we were wrong about her dying, she’ll unexpectedly get killed and throw everyone off guard. That’s what I would do at least.

  5. is it just me or does it look like too much cgi

    *twisting monitor”

    • the CG looks to Video-Game_like. Cant wait for this movie, I loved the first and the cast is awesome (Andrew and Emma). But the trailer makes the hyper colorized scenes look like a cinema scene from an awesome video game. I really hope I’m wrong by the time it actually comes out- can’t wait to see the final rendering an all that.

  6. I like big cogs.

    • Gwen doesn’t look like she enjoys sitting on that big cog.

  7. I swear to God, by the time this movie comes out, we’ll see it all. Do they really need to show absolutely every moment from the movie?

    • First of all: you’re Thor and you swear to God. Shaking my head here.

Secondly, wouldn’t you say it of any comic book movie these days? Studios know it’s good marketing, so they keep it up; if you don’t want to see it, don’t click on an article titled “new images”.

    • Yet you clicked on the article. Makes perfect sense.

    • Looks like the skull of a sabre toothed tiger with gold played fangs.

  8. Excited for just about everything in this movie, BUT I’m pretty worried about how in every shot Spider-Man basically looks like he walked out of a video game. And that’s how it looked in the trailers too. Is that just incomplete CGI or is that really what we’re gonna get? I like the costume design, but it all seems like too much obvious green-screen.

  9. Who is the spare mask for in that 5th pic?

    • Looks like a mask a kid would wear. Most likely from a scene with Spidey interacting with his fans.

  10. Spidey looks a little too skinny, but Electro looks awesome (that coming from someone who initially said I preferred the comics yellow and green lightning-bolt costume). Rhino seems pretty useless, and overall I still prefer the Rami/MacGuire Spidey stuff. I am sure I’ll buy this on DVD for the collection, tho.

  11. Damn!! You’d think that a guy with super-strength would have a bit more muscle on him. I don’t know about you guys but he’s far too skinny, I loved the first one and i’ll definitely like the 2nd one but ever since ‘Man of Steel’ I’ve been comparing the physical look of every superhero with Supes.

And I know, “Spiderman has never been buff”, but he’s at least got to look intimidating. But I digress, I really want this movie to do well it was so much better than that Raimi cr*p we got before.

  12. Please tell me the CGI is going to look better than these pictures show.
    It looks horrible.

Of all the studios making CBM I like Sony the least.

  13. I wish they had stuck with the suit design the introduce in TASM1. I know this one matches the comic-book suit more closely, but I actually preferred the other one.

  14. Reboot it for Avengers, common Sony do something for the fans you can still make lots of €£$!

  15. I’m in the “this crap looks like a video game” camp. I mean, it looks really, really bad. Like it’s not even trying to convince me that spidey isn’t a CG mess.
