Jamie Foxx Teases Sinister Six for Amazing Spider Man Amazing Spider Man 2 Trailer Teases Doctor Octopus & Vulture

The trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is now online (watch it HERE), and among the many things implied or outright spoiled by the footage, there were a few new surprises in store, as well.

By now we can confirm that there will be three villains in the film: Electro (Jamie Foxx), Russian thug turned evil mechsuit Rhino (Paul Giamatti), and finally, an official confirmation that the new Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) will be suiting up as the Green Goblin. However, with the road to a Spidey vs. the Sinister Six movie clearly before us, this ASM2 trailer didn’t waist time introducing us to even more villains.

Did you spot this at the 1:14 mark?

A Closer Side-by-Side

That’s right! Those Oscorp harnesses belong to none other than Doctor Octopus and Vulture, respectively! Both have been members of the Sinister Six in the comic books – and both have actually been hinted at by prior Amazing Spider-Man 2 marketing:

  • Vulture – It’s since been pulled, but for awhile there actor Colm Feore’s IMDb page had him listed as playing “Adrian Toomes” in ASM2. That’s the alter-ego of the Vulture. Feore was also seen in a teaser image as being part of the Ravencroft Institute for criminals. Is he an inmate or an Oscorp plant?
  • Doc Ock – In the ASM2 Comic-Con teaser trailer, Jamie Foxx’s Electro is gaining his powers through an Oscorp procedure, having a dialogue within an unseen figure he refers to as “Doc.” Could it be Otto Octavius behind these new gene experiments? Wouldn’t be surprising.

That’s potentially a full Sinister Six lineup right there – Lizard, Electro, Rhino, Goblin, Vulture, Doc Ock – would that be YOUR chosen roster? Should this storyline end in Amazing Spider-Man 3 and give rise to that Venom/Carnage saga staring in Amazing Spider-Man 4? What do YOU want to see?

Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be in theaters on May 2nd, 2014.

  1. Awesome!

  2. Hopefully this means that the Sinister Six will be teased at the end of the credits.

  3. I’m down with that lineup. I’ve been hoping for a Sinister Six in the Spidey movies since the original trilogy.

    • All we need is Mysterio.

  4. I was actually hoping they’d go with this line up. I’m just hoping Venom will be in the upcoming films.

  5. isn’t lizard already dead?

    • Nope, he went to prison bud!

    • No he wasn’t killed he’s in jail at the end of the movie when he’s visited by a dark figure asking about Peter’s father and if he told the boy anything

      • Honest mistake. Thanks for not crucifying me lol.

  6. What do I want to see? Well for starters, titties. Lots and lots of titties.

    • YES! LOL! +1

    • Sorry but all the Mary Jane scenes have been cut and are being saved for ASM3 ;P

  7. Lizard was in police custody at the end of the first film. This just looks epic, I’m excited to see if the team can pull off all these bad guys and not make it a cluster suck like Spider-Man 3. Also Dehaan needs to be Venom, the potential for a spin off around him as the lead is too awesome to pass up and I think he could be Sonys Loki.

  8. Really Cool Trailer… So many possibilities… How cool will it be to see the sinister 6 in a movie… to make it even better… what if spiderman had some allies…black cat maybe..?

    • I still think it’s going to be Black Cat and Venom helping out Spidey vs the Sinister Six.

  9. hmm, The Lizard left me wanting more, maybe he can continue to mutate/evolve? There needs to be some hot female villain action, too!

  10. Spiderman needs some backup, could be a good thing that he gets his lunch money taken from him, might look silly if he handles all these guys with ease

  11. they had disney logo in the trailer too

  12. Adrian TOOMES***

  13. Oh man Doc Ock!!! I am thrilled and the Vulture wings look bad @$$!!! So Doc Ock, Vulture, Rhino, Goblin, Electro and I would say Kraven. I really want to see all these and maybe Scorpion, Venom, Carnage.

  14. i’m guessing vulture will be norman osborn. In the comics, it was an old guy who were nearly dead.

    • It won’t be Norman Osborn, Adrian Toomes has already been casted, have you read the comics? Norman Osborn is the green goblin, well not in this movie or in Spectacular Spider-man cartoon, but he has never incarnated the Vulture Ego. Great Line-up of the Sinister Six though, I think Lizard is more of an ally to Peter. In the video game, which was technically TASM 2, Spider-man breaks Lizard out of prison and asks him to fight spider Slayers with him. So could be the Gentlemen that takes the Sixth spot, maybe even the Chameleon…

    • This isn’t Fox haha, though it still wouldn’t surprise me.

    • I know that is not how it happens in the comics but I actually like your idea. It might be another tricky move to cast someone as Toomes with no intention of him ever becoming the Vulture.

  15. I would throw Sandman and shocker in the mix for the sinister six. I do like Doc Ock Vulture, electro and rhino. Those six would be awesome for it.

  16. *wast time, not waist time

    • Waste time, not wast time or waist time…

    • lol no it’s “waste” not wast or waist

      • he doesn’t have the crazy man handcuffs on for no reason

  18. I bet B.J. Novak’s character is Doc Ock. I remember seeing a still of him visiting Colm Feore’s character in Ravencroft. Also IMDB has an actor listed as playing Dr. Kafka. For the uninformed that was Cletus Cassidy’s doctor in the comics…I think.

    • Kafka treated Doc Ock, Vulture, and Electro along with Cletus. As much as I want Carnage there is no hard evidence of him yet.

  19. Harry Osborne is Green Goblin!

  20. Are we sure Norman’s son is GG?

That figure looking at the Vials didn’t exactly look like him but someone else; maybe it was just the hair though. I also wonder if the figure in the hat is Mysterio but it could be Doc Ock. What I’m really trying to figure out though is who is the “Emporer” in all of this?

Norman seems to sick and why would folks just do his bidding when he has no real hold on them; least that I can see. Since Parker’s dad had some secret lab I almost wonder if the real villian will be his dad [kinda like Vader] or if there is a twist we just plan don’t see yet. Sony is putting alot out there and perhaps that is to keep the focus off the hidden gem.

    • The figure in the hat is Michael Massee’s character from the mid-credit scene of the first movie and my guess is that he is Spencer Smythe.

  21. If Harry is Green Goblin now, I hope Flash becomes Venom.

Overall I love their line up for Sinister Six!!

I’m still wondering who the man in the hat is.

  22. No love for Scorpion he could be an awesome villain and fit right in there with Rhino,Doc Ock, and Vulture tech Weapons.

  23. Am I the only one who wants to see Kraven the Hunter? I’ve always thought he was cool, even if he’s not as powerful, unique or iconic as the Spidey villains in the unconfirmed Sinister Six lineup.

    • I’d like to see Viggo Mortensen running around NYC as Kraven, sure.

    • Nah Dominic West is the man for Kraven.

  24. there you have your sinister six: lizard, electro, rhino, green goblin, vulture, octopus

  25. I think Peter/Spider-Man needs more allies, even if they don’t rise to the occasion for this film, but build up their characters for the next big battle. This is a long-shot but Chris Zylka (Flash Thompson) has been cast again for this film, and we did see him make amends with Peter at the end of the last film. Since Dehaan (Harry Osbourne) is going to be Green Goblin, then I’d like to see Zylka (Flash) become Venom and give Peter a hand.

All that being said, I can’t wait for this o kick-off regardless if has allies or not.

    • Yeah, it does kinda seem like we’ll get the Flash Thompson version of Venom unless they surprise us with an Eddie Brock appearance.

  26. This lookedlike a video game…Im almost unimpressed

    • Yeah, it didn’t have that crappy cartoon-y feel of the Raimi movies…

  27. Wow!!…love the trailer…sinister six
    Cant wait for that!!!…

  28. I reckon the final member of the sinister six is going to be a character that combines the traits of both Chameleon and Mysterio, this character is going to be running things behind the scenes for Norman Osborn. I think this makes sense since it means a lot of the planning and preparation could be done in the background. Rhino could already be in on this in ASM2 with Electro being someone who happens to have similar goals.

Plus the way I see it as two different people neither Chameleon or Mysterio are that much of a threat but as one guy he could become the backbone of the Sinister Six to make it easier for the others to fight Spider-Man.

    • Chamelerio? Mysteleon?

      • It makes more sense then the other suggestions (In my opinion of course). You have Electro, Rhino, Green Goblin and then possible Doc Ock and Vulture fighting it out with Spider-Man so how do you pick a character that audiences can tell apart from the others while also remaining interesting, simple you pick a character who’s on the espionage side of things.

Which is either Mysterio or Chameleon. Think of what Iron Man 2 did with Whiplash, he had elements of Crimson Dynamo in his movie appearance, the Amazing Spider-Man movie franchise could have Mysterio with elements of Chameleon. A tech geek who is a bit of an egotist, likes to show off and has been helping Norman Osborn from behind the scenes to set the Sinister Six up.

The movie could show off Quentin Beck up as the kind of person who uses this fancy tech to get around but likes people to think of him as having some sort of powerful magic, using his tech to disguise himself as other people and to create intense hallucinations. Like some kind of Hi-Tech version of Scarecrow.

  29. I’m not all that familiar with Sinister Six, how does Spiderman alone handle all of them at once?

    • From what I’ve seen usually Spider-Man uses the fact that they all REALLY want him dead to he’s advantage basically making them attack each other in the open cross-fire to get him. It’s hard to fight someone when your team-mate is a psycho firing electricity everywhere or when another one of your team-mates is a guy in a robo-rhino suit wildly punching.

They might be a team but Spider-Man gets past this by taking advantage of their individual weaknesses.

      • So they’re a team in the loosest term and don’t actually work together? Too bad, I’ve always wanted to see villains work together and work together well lol.

        • Well they work together but the problem is that Doc Ock always keeps the plans to himself so he can feel smug and superior and so only tells the other members what they need to know and nothing about the big picture.

Later on they made the Sinister Six better, at one point they take down The Avengers. I imagine in the movies the Sinister Six will work better as a team but yeah Spider-Man takes on six people at the same time by using their individual weaknesses for instance Electro’s weakness is that he’s powers work both ways so he can travel through anything that runs on electricity but you can also use that to capture him so Thor once uses Mjolnir to shoot Electro into space (He’s fine the guy can is basically just electricity) or Sandman has a single grain of sand that holds the essence of himself (the rest is just sand) so if you can get to that and contain it you’ve caught Sandman.
