Considering the greatness that came before it, the first Alien vs Predator movie wasn’t a big hit with fans of either franchise. It was OK I suppose, but overall it was a bit of a letdown.
However, money talks in Hollywood, so it’s no surprise that a sequel has been made due to AVP’s $170 million worldwide gross.
Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem or AVP-R as the marketing guys would like it to be known, will be released on Christmas day, and the official website has now gone live.
There’s quite a lot to see on the site and you can also make your own Predalien or send a loved one your very own Facehugger E-card.
Did I really just type that?

For fans of Alien and/or Predator there’s a bit of good news: Paul W.S. Anderson won’t be directing. Instead we have Colin and Greg Strause who are self-proclaimed fans of both franchises. In addition to that the film will be rated R. Maybe that’s why it’s called AVP-R. ![]()
Unlike most people I don’t hate Paul W.S. Anderson (who is not to be confused with Magnolia’s Paul Thomas Anderson). I enjoyed Resident Evil and I also really loved Soldier, although that had a lot to do with it starring Kurt Russell.
AVP-R looks gory and violent, two things that we have come to expect from the Predator and Alien films, but which was lacking from the original AVP (or should that be the unoriginal AVP?). Let’s hope that this one lives up to the expectations that we have for both of these iconic franchises.

I’m not generally optimistic but I’m thinking we may end up being pleasantly surprised by this version.
BTW, the Predalien builder is not yet ready to go.

AvP:R looks to be the real deal! The 5 minute clip was great, especially starting from the end of AvP. Nice to see what the predator planet looks like as well. Will be in a seat on opening day. Very much look for to this one success, and the third film being in space!
Yeah, I’m hoping that the directors’ excitement regarding the project will translate into a film worthy of both Alien and Predator.

Just saw the film and I was let down.
Could have been better. I have to say the first AvP was better.
