Whatever happened to oldest son Matt on Alaskan Bush People? The 37-year-old found that living in the wilderness just became a bit too much to handle, so he chose to make the transition into city life.

The Brown family made their debut in the Alaskan bush, where they fought off bears, spoke in a weird accent, and watched their beloved boat sink. Since the state of Alaska kicked them out over a dispute, they have made a new Brown Town up on a mountain in Washington. The family has grown, thanks to the addition of wives and children, but the dream of living off the land and away from other people is still alive.

Fans of the show remember that there are six children, Matt Brown, Joshua "Bam Bam" Brown, Bear Brown, Noah Brown, Amora Jean "Bird" Brown, and Merry Christmas Kathryn "Rain" Brown. The children all pitch in to help their father and mother, who have been suffering from health issues. Many Alaskan Bush People fans are wondering where the eldest son Matt has gone to, since he has not appeared on the show since season 8.

Matt is probably considered the most peculiar of Billy and Ami Brown’s children. He acted a little out there and unstable, but fans grew to love his cocky ways. Fans of the show will remember that he went to rehab back in 2016. Matt made the decision to move to California and seek help at the Betty Ford Center, due to his addiction to alcohol. In one of his last episodes, he explained to cameras that he felt he was losing control of himself and making bad decisions.  He made a second appearance at rehab in 2018. Fans were happy to see he was doing better when he shared a picture of his sobriety coin back in March of 2019 on his social media. Matt has now been sober for two years.

If you go to Matt’s Instagram you will see a post he shared five weeks ago. It features an original art piece. Since leaving the show, he has committed to his sobriety, and to honing his art skills.

Matt has no plans to return to Alaskan Bush People and is quite content living his quiet life in California. The family has always stood behind him; even though he is not on the show anymore, they always want him to make wise life decisions.
