Season 5 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. may feature the return of their short lived Inhuman super team, Secret Warriors. What started as a tease to end season 2, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. looked to assemble their own team of superheroes in season 3. Led by Daisy Johnson aka Quake (Chloe Bennet), S.H.I.E.L.D. began actively recruiting new Inhumans to be part of this squad. Along their journey, Daisy recruited Joey Gutierrez (Juan Pablo Raba), Elena 'Yo-Yo' Rodriguez (Natalia Cordova-Buckley), and her at-the-time love interest Lincoln Campbell (Luke Mitchell) to be part of the team.

It took until episode 17 of season 3, titled The Team, for the Secret Warriors to actually work as a team and go on their first real mission, but Hive's manipulation brought the team to distrust one another. He was also partially responsible for Lincoln dying, effectively ending Daisy's interest in the team. They've yet to be reimagined since, but season 5 could change that.

Clark Gregg, who stars as Phil Coulson on the series, teased the return of the Secret Warriors in a recent Instagram post hyping the start of production on season 5. This is far from confirmation that a new lineup of the Secret Warriors will be shown in the next season, but it certainly seems possible now.

Even though the official Secret Warriors name was not used in season 4, bits of the team still remained. Yo-Yo and Quake routinely worked together both for and against S.H.I.E.L.D., so their bond has only become stronger over time. If they are looking for more powered teammates, they could look to their newest ally in Ghost Rider (Gabriel Luna) to be a new member of the team. Other than that, teases of Eden Fesi have still yet to come to fruition, while the show could finally bring back Absorbing Man (Brian Patrick Wade) or Hellfire (Axle Whitehead). Considering they have yet to even mention Joey since the Secret Warriors were disbanded, he could be left out of the new lineup.

Of course, any return of the Secret Warriors should have to wait until the team returns to Earth. With season 4's ending leaving the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents locked away in an unknown space station, the return of this team could be a ways off. But, if their captors are going to be the big bads of the new season, they should need some extra help to defeat them. If that is the case, then it makes plenty of sense for the Secret Warriors to return bigger and more powerful than before.
