A new set photo for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5 teases the show's outer space setting. Due to the release of Inhumans on ABC, S.H.I.E.L.D. fans have to wait a bit longer for the return of the Marvel TV series. However, once Inhumans wraps up its eight-episode run, Marvel and ABC will air S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5 without any extended breaks between episodes.

Promotion is already underway for what could well be the last season of Agents of S.H.I.E.D. This week, we received the first poster for S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5 - and, like the new photo from the set, it too alludes to the cosmic setting of the season ahead.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. transmedia producer Geoffrey Colo has shared a new image from the set of the show's fifth season, offering a look at the outer space setting that was previously teased in the show's season 4 finale. Colo is well-known for sharing behind-the-scenes images from Marvel TV shows, so expect more like photos like the one below to arrive in the near future.

Last season, Coulson ended up in an unnamed space station, and many fans are hoping some version of S.W.O.R.D. is on the way. The time in-between seasons hasn't shed any light on the situation, so there's no telling where Coulson is right now or even who's there with him. Luckily, we could learn a lot more soon. Marvel will be bringing S.H.I.E.L.D. to New York Comic Con in October and will no doubt shed some light on the season ahead, to go along with the details that have already been made available.

We already know that Phil Coulson himself, Clark Gregg, will be stepping behind the camera in order to direct an episode for S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5. Similar to how season 4 of the series brought back characters like ex-Agents Ward and Tripp, Nick Blood will be reprising his role as Lance Hunter in season 5, after his character was written off the show in season 3. There's no word yet on whether Mockingbird/Bobbi Morse (Adrianne Palicki) will return when Lance does, though it seems unlikely given Palicki's current starring role on FOX's The Orville.

With Inhumans premiering this week and NYCC right around the corner, here's to hoping that we learn a lot more about what to expect when S.H.I.E.L.D. returns (including, its mysterious cosmic setting for season 5), very soon.
