Season 4 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is less than a week away and it is set to return with a vengeance. The Spirt of Vengeance himself is set to make his debut in the premiere episode, but it will not be the Ghost Rider many people are familiar with. The show is set to use the Robbie Reyes version of the character, a relatively new iteration that debuted in comics in 2014. This could give the show and Gabriel Luna more room to explore the character as they see fit, but he is still just one part of a larger universe.

Throughout his first season in the MCU, Ghost Rider looks to have plenty of encounters with Daisy, who has embraced her superhero alter-ego known as Quake. S.H.I.E.L.D. and their new boss could not be far behind in tracking down Robbie, and the latest promo for the season premiere indicates just that.

Marvel/ABC have released a brand new promo for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4, with Ghost Rider’s presence looming large throughout. The footage shows all of the main characters that fans will recognize, including some of our first looks at May, Fitz, and Simmons. Daisy sports both a look similar to her rogue look from the season 3 finale, but also appears in her Secret Warriors suit a few times. Possibly the most exciting aspect of the promo however, is the first words of the Ghost Rider.

Although it was not certain how big of a role Ghost Rider will have throughout the season, it is clear that he will be a focus for the first episode, and probably longer. It looks as though he will be the face of death for at least one victim in the premiere, but Robbie is not the one that makes those decisions. It appears that S.H.I.E.L.D. is also closing in on him, with the semi sprayed with blood surely being a part of his violent introduction.

Should this be the case, it will be interesting to see how well or not Ghost Rider gets along with S.H.I.E.L.D. Killing random citizens, innocent or not, is not part of the organization’s usual code of conduct. This could prove for an uneasy alliance at some point, or a further divide between members if Daisy or others believe he is doing this for the greater good. This sort of psychological battle has already made its way into Daredevil season 2 with Punisher saying his enemies stay down, and it appears Ghost Rider could be taking a similar approach.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4 will premiere on September 20th on ABC.
