[SPOILERS for those not caught up on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ahead.]

-

With various story-lines involving multiple enemies causing immediate problems for the Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D thus far in season 3, Daisy Johnson's (Chloe Bennet) Secret Warriors recruitment mission have taken more of a back seat. Even with the Inhuman murdering Lash, the circus of new Hydra, the shady A.T.C.U, and the resolution of the Kree monolith kidnapping, Daisy's operation has been quietly gaining momentum in the background - with key elements beginning to fall into place.

It would appear that one such Secret Warrior character will be joining the S.H.I.E.L.D. cast in season 3, adding more 'powered' action and bulking out Daisy's super-team. Specifically, Yo Yo Rodriguez -aka Slingshot is rumored to have been cast for the Marvel/ABC TV series.

Slingshot, in the world of Marvel Comics, is a Secret Warriors team member whose special abilities include superhuman speed - with the twist that she is anchored to the spot she sped from and must bounce back to this exact location (hence her nickname). The character will reportedly be played by McFarland, USA costar Natalia Cordova-Buckley, who will begin shooting scenes this coming January.

The news has been provided exclusively by You Tube channel That Hashtag Show and their partner site Point Of Geeks. According to the video and article the S.H.I.E.L.D. producers were keen to cast a “Strong Latino character to have more diversity on the show.” Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has appeared to have been sizing up Lincoln Campbell (Luke Mitchell) and Joey Gutierrez (Juan Pablo Raba) as possible Secret Warriors recruits already this season - but there are certainly more spots to fill and still a lot of episodes left to explore possibilities.

For now this remains a rumor, but the Slingshot character's location-bound ability and the restrictions involved would be something unique to the show - one that continues to push the boundaries of special effects for TV, as it were. We have already seen a range of super fast marvel characters depicted on both the big and small screen (such as The Flash and Quicksilver in the X-Men franchise); this is an ability that can be very visually impacting in terms of actions and stunts and Slingshot would be an opportunity for AOS to utilize this popular device (with a twist) and add to their growing Inhuman bag of tricks.

If Slingshot is in line to become a Secret Warrior for S.H.I.E.L.D. it would suggest that the showrunners are gradually coming good with the heavier Inhuman focus fans have hoped for in the show's third season. Indeed, we anticipate more official news about Secret Warriors casting to arrive in the near future, what with the series about to do on its mid-season break.
