The third pod of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has brought the team into the Framework, but an upcoming episode will see them take their shot at leaving. This new pod has offered the show a unique chance of doing away with the normal portrayals of characters - and bring back a few familiar faces - and it has worked out quite well so far. Daisy and Simmons have so far only convinced Coulson of their alternate world, but Mack and May have recently found their way back to S.H.I.E.L.D. and the rest of the team.

Fitz, on the other hand, has remained steadfast in his loyalty to Hydra, with his biggest regret of not being close to his father setting him down this path. Some of the other regrets have not been as drastic, such as Mack being able to live with his daughter. Whether the reasons are good or bad, some agents may feel that the Framework may be a better place to live, and they will be put to the test when it comes time to leave.

ABC has released the synopsis for episode 20, "Farewell, Cruel World!", that teases the team's attempt at escaping the Framework. With Natalia Cordova-Buckley listed to appear, it appears that they will escape by the time the episode comes to a close. However, the question remains who will make it out, as the synopsis teases not everyone wants to leave. ABC also released a series of photos from the episode.

IT’S THE END OF S.H.I.E.L.D.’S WORLD, ON ABC’S ‘MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.’

“Farewell, Cruel World!” – The clock is ticking for Daisy and Simmons to get the team out of the Framework, but not everyone is ready and willing to leave, on “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” TUESDAY, MAY 2 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network.

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” stars Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons, Henry Simmons as Agent Alphonso “Mack” MacKenzie and John Hannah as Holden Radcliffe.

Guest starring are Natalia Cordova-Buckley as Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez, Mallory Jansen as Madame Hydra/Aida, Jordan Rivera as Hope Mackenzie, Briana Venskus as Agent Piper, Maximilian Osinski as Agent Davis, Patrick Cavanaugh as Burrows, David O’Hara as Alistair, Ricardo Walker as Agent Prince, Rheagan Wallace as Marilyn and Richard Whiten as Gedrick.

“Farewell, Cruel World!” was written by Brent Fletcher and directed by Vincent Misiano.

The photos in particular depict what should be Simmons' big attempt at getting Fitz to snap out of the Framework mindset. She is shown confronting his father and with them being very close in the Framework, Fitz is likely not too far away. There is really no telling which way Fitz will go. His connection with Simmons is strong, but Aida has reworked this new version to care very much about his father.

The Framework has already claimed one victim that the producers have confirmed is 100 percent not coming back. As they make their way out, there is a very real possibility that any of the remaining members of S.H.I.E.L.D. decide to stay within this artificial world. Mack has already lost his daughter once, so him willingly deciding to leave her again could be too difficult a task. How everyone progresses in the next two episodes should help make it clear who will and who won't come out of the Framework. Whatever the agent count is, it should put the final two episodes - possibly a two-hour season finale - in a great position.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. continues Tuesday April 25 with ‘All the Madame’s Men’ at 10pm on ABC.
