Under the leadership of Kevin Feige, Marvel is set to dominate viewers’ attention for the next several years with its numerous upcoming movies and TV shows. As always, Marvel loves to keep its plans secret, though they have revealed some information regarding casting for these projects, though not revealing who many of these actors will be playing.

Thus, fans have scoured the recesses of Marvel comics to theorize and speculate who could be joining the MCU. Some have been seemingly guaranteed from context clues and interviews, but others remain an intriguing mystery

Patrick Stewart

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the next MCU film to grace theaters and it looks to be the most consequential production in Phase Four. In the latest trailer, Doctor Strange is shown in the custody of a secret, possibly multiversal counsel – suspected to be the Illuminati.

Many viewers instantly recognized the voice of Patrick Stewart though only the back of his head was seen. As such, it has been seemingly deduced that he is reprising his role of Charles Xavier aka Professor X – whether he is from the X-Men franchise or simply a variant.

Michaela Coel

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

British actress Michaela Coel, best recognized for her award-winning performances on Chewing Gum and I May Destroy You, will appear in an unrevealed role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. In particular, it is widely thought she could take on the iconic role of Ororo Munroe aka Storm – a powerful mutant with a deep connection to Wakanda and T’Challa.

How Storm’s story and introduction could affect the story considering Chadwick Boseman’s untimely passing is very much up for debate – regardless, fans are eager to finally see Ororo in the MCU. There are also theories, acknowledging the multiverse, she could be a Shuri variant or just a new member of the Dora Milaje.

Laura Donnelly

Untitled Marvel Halloween Special

Following the announcement of Gael García Bernal as Werewolf by Night, Marvel revealed that The Nevers’ Laura Donnelly would join him in the untitled Halloween Special. Though which incarnation he would take on is also a mystery, it will most likely be Jack Russel – as such Donnelly could be playing Nina Prince aka Vampire by Night, Russell’s niece.

Prince can transform into both a vampire and a werewolf and, like Russell, has a connection to the Darkhold – currently in Scarlet Witch’s possession. Although the special is probably a one-off, Bernal and Donnelly’s inclusion in the MCU won’t be.

Kingsley Ben-Adir

Secret Invasion

One of the most intriguing tv shows that viewers are waiting to learn more about is Secret Invasion. Kingsley Ben-Adir was revealed to be joining Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn as the main villain in this Marvel spy series. Based on the comic series of the same name he will likely be portraying Kl’rt aka Super-Skrull.

As a common enemy of the Fantastic Four – since he mimics each of their abilities – it is logical for him to appear in Secret Invasion before the team's eventual introduction. Other possibilities could be Poibok or Titannus, two other powerful and treacherous Skrulls.

Emilia Clark

Secret Invasion

Secret Invasion Emilia Clarke Abigail Brand SR

Secret Invasion is looking to be a massive show just based on the cast alone, including Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke. Of any other actor on this list, she has some of the most options, ranging from a skrull to a secret agent to a mutant. Nevertheless, one name keeps popping up: Abigail Brand.

Agent Brand is a commanding officer for S.W.O.R.D. and Clarke would certainly make her an epic and compelling character, highlighting her complex backstory. Other theories suggest she could be Queen Veranke, Jessica Drew aka Spider-Woman, or even Talos and Soren’s grown-up daughter.

Olivia Colman

Secret Invasion

Also joining Ben-Adir and Clarke in Secret Invasion is Academy Award winner, Olivia Colman. Her past performances in The Crown, Peep Show, and The Favourite all prove that Colman is capable of playing nearly any role, so her inclusion is a welcome sight.

She was initially suspected to be playing Queen Veranke, however recent information has led to other theories. It was revealed that her role is “Fury-esque" – opening up the possibility for someone like Deidre Wentworth aka Superia of H.A.M.M.E.R. or Monica Rappicini, A.I.M.’s Scientist Supreme.

Christopher McDonald

Secret Invasion

Happy Gilmore’s Christopher McDonald is also part of Secret Invasion, and he has been open in interviews about his own excitement in joining the MCU. McDonald has also addressed rumors that he could be playing this universe’s incarnation of Norman Osborn aka Green Goblin.

Of course, Willem Dafoe’s recent inclusion in Spider-Man: No Way Home could put this in question, but Osborn played an important role in the comic series, forming H.A.M.M.E.R. and seizing more influence during the power vacuum. Alternatively, he could be the skrull Emperor Dorrek VII, father to Hulkling.

Josh Segarra

She-Hulk

Although a release date hasn’t been revealed yet too, Marvel fans are eager to see the newest green superhero in She-Hulk. Tatianna Maslany is starring in the titular role, joined by Mark Ruffalo, Jameela Jamil as Titania, and Josh Segarra in an unknown role.

He would make a great option for an antagonist, a love interest, or both at once – as such, there are a plethora of possibilities. One of the most exciting and probable is John Jameson, the son of J. Jonah Jameson played by J.K. Simmons. Importantly, he is also Jennifer Walter’s husband and actually becomes a werewolf, adopting the title of Man-Wolf.

Zawe Ashton

The Marvels

Loki’s Tom Hiddleston recently announced his engagement to Zawe Ashton, who is set to appear as a villain in The Marvels. It would make sense in a movie called The Marvels for even an antagonist to be part of that group – and as such, it is theorized that Ashton will be playing Karla Sofen aka Moonstone, the third Ms. Marvel.

Other options are Rogue –  though typically heroic, she was actually introduced as a villain – Deathbird, Una-Rogg, or Queen Veranke. In any case, Ashton will certainly make a lasting impression in The Marvels.

Park Seo-joon

The Marvels

Alongside Ashton in an undisclosed role in The Marvels is South Korean actor, Park Seo-joon. There are two popular possibilities for who his character could be: Amadeus Cho, or Noh-Varr. Both have connections to existing characters and teams in the MCU, so viewers have been expecting each of them to show up sometime soon.

Amadeus Cho is the son of Helen Cho – seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron – and the second Hulk, though he goes by Brawn now. Meanwhile, Noh-Varr uses the codename Marvel Boy and is a member of the Young Avengers, which the MCU has been teasing with each Disney+ show.

Chukqudi Iwuji

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Following Peacemaker, Chukwudi Iwuji and James Gunn reunited to make Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Interestingly, his screen-test was recorded on the TV show's set and part of the season finale was filmed on the movie's set.

While this story will likely focus on Will Porter’s Adam Warlock, Iwuji’s role is suspected to be just as important. Therefore, he will be playing the High Evolutionary, a complex and powerful figure with ties to the Guardians. With this being marketed as the last time viewers might see the team together, it would make sense for the High Evolutionary to be involved.

Anthony Ramos

Ironheart

Recently it was announced that In the Heights actor Anthony Ramos was cast for the Disney+ tv show, Ironheart. The show will follow Riri Williams following her introduction in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and Ramos is suspected to be playing the villain. There are several possibilities, but the most likely is Zeke Stane.

He is the son of Obadiah Stane – who is remembered as the inaugural MCU villain in Iron Man played by Jeff Bridges – and a genius capable of rivaling Riri. A similar option is Victor Mancha, who is also the cyborg “son” of another iconic MCU villain, Ultron, though the character is more connected to the Runaways.
