Relativity Media is wisely taking advantage of Super Bowl XLVI to drum up interest for the fast-approaching release of Act of Valor – a film project two years in the making, due to the limited availability of its central cast, which is composed primarily of real active-duty Navy SEALs playing… well, themselves.

Everything from the acting crew featuring actual military personnel, to the use of live ammunition during combat sequences – and directors Mike McCoy and Scott Waugh utilizing mobile Canon 5D Mark II cameras, in order to literally get in the middle of the action – is meant to make Act of Valor a largely accurate portrayal of SEAL operation techniques (not to mention, a high-octane viewing experience).

Here is an official plot synopsis for Act of Valor:

When the rescue of a kidnapped CIA operative leads to the discovery of a deadly terrorist plot against the U.S., a team of SEALs is dispatched on a worldwide manhunt. As the valiant men of Bandito Platoon race to stop a coordinated attack that could kill and wound thousands of American civilians, they must balance their commitment to country, team, and their families back home.

  1. you guys need to find a better video player for your sites the current one doesn’t load videos for me anymore, and when it did, it took forever to both load and stream the damn vids :( would be much preferred if you could use a youtube vid instead.

  2. i dont know if i’ll catch it in theaters, but it gives makes me respect these guys alot more than i did before. the footage seems to give a bette perspective of what these guys do and go through, so all my ove and props to them. and the movie looks good too.

  3. Is this more “Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare” or “Hurt Locker”?

    • neither, i would go with black hawk down or saving private ryan in terms of realism and tension. i can see how you could relate this to that crappy franchise but its nothing like that, everything in this is more realistic (minus 1 or 2 details).

  4. America! HECK YEAH!

  5. Saw it last night in a special screening and have to say it was very good. It is a very emotional ride with the SEAL team.
