V is getting decent ratings only because everybody is hungry for a good show. American Idol is tired and I quit watching. Personally I am not interested in any other show currently on schedule. Come on LOST!

As an avid fan of the 80s series, i have to say im actually loving the new V. I really hope they keep it going and all of you “know it alls” just leave it to the networks to resolve whatever is going on and give a +1 vote to keep it going

ABC pulled the same thing with firefly back in 2003/04, and that was an amazing show. I think that V definitely has that same thing coming for it, though i hope not, i watched the pilot and it looks great

I am from the old school of V, and own the complete DVD collection. Last night episode was so bad that I will not be watching again. The story started out loosely following the story then, then turned it in to a hybrid of Sleeper Cell and Battlestar Galactic with elements of Numbers. For prime time I cant believe that cancelled shows like Moonlight, the Unit and 4400, for this over CGI’ed show if they had kept to the original script,with the latest Special Effects
it could have been a fantastic show, instead of another over rated over price “B” rated SI-FI.

I’m going to do the same thing I do with all new series… I Tivo them and after I have about 4 episodes I check the blogs to see if they are in danger of getting cancelled. If they are I delete them. I Tivo’s 5 “Unusuals” last year and deleted them all without ever watching them. On second thought, with the season having a three month gap after only 4 episodes I may just wait for the season 1 dvd at Blockbuster.

Here in the UK ‘V’ is advertised as the pilot being shown next month and the series to start in November. My guess is that UK Broadcasters will show the pilot, but now wait until the shows first season is in the bag before showing. We never, to my knowledge have split a series.
I have just watched the trailer, and boy it looks pretty good to me. As a fan of the 80s ‘V’ I am hoping that all the problems are resolved quickly and we get a great new show..

It is very unlikely the new V has been canceled at least on ABC's end at this point in time. It hasn't aired yet; nobody can say it's a ratings issue. ABC is still hyping for November- and I'll even go on a limb and say it's a sneak at the rest of the V season in early 2010. I don't see that as a sign of trouble. The network also has in the fall lineup a few shows that may be some interest to genre fans: a series with Rebecca Romijn based upon The Witches of Eastwick in both novel and film; Flash Forward. So, it's not nothing to do with hate over sci-fi/fantasy concepts in new shows. It can be for overcrowding.... But the truth is that ABC is planning to air 'V' like the cable networks- like a split up' season' (sort of like Burn Notice on USA or how Battlestar was on SciFi/SyFy) and there's one detail you left out, Bruce: ABC will heavily promote the series during the Winter Olympics because that will be the March slot. As to the current slot, once Dancing w/ Stars winds down, it'll make room for Boston Legal and Lost.

I honestly think it is because of American Idol. I have noticed that with other shows the last few years. Their ratings are phenomenal (though I can’t stand that stupid show).

That’s my thing – I am poor enough at following TV shows on a normal schedule, but when they split it up in odd ways it’s just too much effort on my part.

Maybe it would have been better for them to just make an updated miniseries of that property, and be done with it.

It’s like season 2 of Lost all over again as far as the airing schedule.I don’t understand how the network expects people to keep interest in a show that airs four episode,then goes away for an extended period of time.

Starting the show in November is the stupidest thing that I’ve ever heard.ABC pulled the same crap with the limited run series Daybreak.

The numbers declined because they were airing episodes too close to the holidays,so they yanked it before it was even over.I have a feeling that the same thing is going to happen here.

Based on the trailer it’s one of the best new (remade) shows this year (Day One and The Deep End still to come). Is this due to the writer’s strike? Like ScreenRant predicted would happen to the summer movies of ’09, is it happening to the TV shows as well?
