Cloverfield and Myspace are throwing a surprise party for Rob in New York City!
Join us next Thursday night, January 17th for a send off for our buddy Rob, he’s moving to Japan! There will be drinks, dancing, and tons of cool people. It will be a party to remember!
We’re randomly picking 200 people who RSVP to join us for a big Cloverfield celebration in the Lower East Side. It’s going to be a blast!

Is Rob the character whose party the videographer attends? Is he a character, a construct, or irrelevant to the contest? (He’s moving to Japan?)
Yes, in the trailer he’s the guy who’s being honored at the going away party.

I’m very excited about the release of Cloverfield too. I think it’ll be the first big budget horror action movie to show the studios how powerful internet viral marketing can be. We’re all going crazy trying to figure out what the monster looks like.
Actually, I think “The Blair Witch Project” owns the rights to proving how effective internet marketing can be.
Although they’ve done a pretty good job with “Cloverfield,” Warner Bros. is giving Paramount a run for it’s money with their viral work on “The Dark Knight.”

a) a plume of smoke
b) an animated, headless statue of liberty (maybe it slices off its own head and hurls it down what seems to be a giant bowling alley)
c) heath ledger
Rob is the star, not the camera guy. He gets the job at SLUSHO! in Japan. They’ve been running fake news stories about the drilling company Tarugato having a drilling platform near New York (in the Atlantic) torn down mysteriously. Dum dum DUM!

Heath, in the news videos two related things.
1. The coast guard was reported at the scene.
2. There are missing people.
Since we know there is some aspect of military briefing in the movie, I wonder if these witnesses have been detained by the military.
I live in Jersey, so I RSVP’d. I’ll let you know if I made the first 200. (Highly unlikely, I suspect)
