After his divorce 30 years ago, Big Ed said he didn’t plan on pursuing another relationship, as his daughter Tiffany had become the center of his life. He thought he would never find love and that it would be him and his dog Teddy forever. He insisted that his faith in love had been restored. While on vacation in Palawan, Rose said she enjoyed the view of the scenery, and Big Ed told her she was the best view. He also called her leg hair “gross” and “less feminine.” He asked her to shave. Then, he demanded that she get an STD test to make sure she wasn’t “sleeping around.” He wouldn't take the same test himself.
In a now-deleted Instagram post from Halloween 2020, Big Ed showed off a picture of himself and another woman he called his "new bride." “His full caption on the post read, "My new bride to be she wants 10 kids..!” Franchise fans thought he was being rude to Rose, given that his own lack of desire for kids was what led to their breakup. During a BBQ ribs-and-sauce feast after their relationship ended, Big Ed told Instagram that he wished Rose’s father-in-law was there with him. Critics didn't think her family members should be mentioned by Big Ed. Fans even speculated that he created a fake account and used it to body-shame her.
Big Ed and Rose have had their problems, and the two had their explosive reunion on 90 Day: Bares All. He told her, “You've helped me in so many ways, I'm very happy. I'm growing, I still have a lot to learn, but you admired me and you touched my heart, even though it didn't work out." Since then, the 90 Day Fiancé star has said that he apologized to her through FaceTime. Is Big Ed being nice to Rose just to make himself look good? That is always a possibility.
