The new season of 90 Day Fiancé brought along with it an unheard set of relationship issues, including Andrew Kenton’s French lover Amira Lollya’s detention and deportation. As fans watched Amira board the plane for Mexico, her father’s words about Andrew being trouble rang loud in their ears. And Andrew’s grand plan did turn out to be a big mistake when Amira was detained for three days in Mexico City. Oddly enough, 90 Day Fiancé never really revealed why it is that Amira got detention in the first place, thus making fans super confused.
When 90 Day Fiancé’s Andrew met Amira on an international dating website, sparks flew, and the couple soon met in Las Vegas. With his heart leaping out of his chest, the smitten Andrew proposed to the French-Egyptian Amira within three days, and the TLC couple made plans for her K-1 visa. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic foiled their plans as Amira received her visa while the American borders shut down. But the 90 Day Fiancé pair thought they’d meet in Mexico, quarantine there, and move to the USA together. However, fans saw Amira getting detained in New Mexico and Andrew with his excuse of not knowing Spanish headed to his sea-facing resort where he tried his best to Google her way out of the mess. But with three days passing and no fruitful help from 90 Day Fiancé star Andrew, Amira did leave detention and was sent back packing, which meant the couple never even met.
As 90 Day Fiancé star Amira cried to the cameras and spoke about the worst experience of her life, she also mentioned that Andrew was the one who’d hatched the plan. The whole chilling ordeal gave Andrew tons of hate, but a Reddit thread hints at it being Amira who’d inquired about the plan in the first plan. The user has shared screenshots from an immigration forum where Amira “or someone pretending to be her” talks about the Mexico trip. As per the user, 90 Day Fiancé’s Amira did not comply with “Mexico’s entry requirements for French citizen” which includes having a “round trip ticket” even though in the screenshots, she appears to have known about it being important to have one. A post in the screenshot, allegedly from Amira also has her saying, “I just spent 2 full days in the immigration detention center of Mexico city’s airport and now I am being sent back by plane to where I am coming from.” This post has been created on June 14, 2020, which also seems to match with the dates on the “detention paperwork” posted by the 90 Day Fiancé fan account @FraudedMedia.
This caption reads, “it appears she arrived in Mexico on the 11th, and was deported back to France on the 13th,” and this post also has comments from Andrew and Amira. However, the paperwork notes 90 Day Fiancé’s Amira was denied entry because of “Sin pasaporte” which translates to her not having a passport. “How do you even get in a plane in France to fly to another country without a passport,” asks a comment on the post, to which Amira has replied with “thank you.” A separate comment by 90 Day Fiancé star Andrew has him saying to a fan, “you make far too many assumptions based on 5 seconds.”
However, it was Andrew himself who had also posted an Instagram story with screenshots of a chat between him and his 90 Day Fiancé partner Amira where she tells him about her booking a ticket “for the 11th.” As an explanation, Andrew had captioned the story with, “Here is the truth: Amira was the one to make the decision, she was on the forum, she bought the ticket, chose the date, and much more.”
While this 90 Day Fiancé drama looks murky at best, looks like Amira did get detained for not booking a round trip. Still, the reason wasn’t explored on the show, and neither can anyone tell if Andrew and Amira are still together. But many episodes of season 8 still remain so perhaps fans can stay tuned to know the truth if at all 90 Day Fiancé chooses to reveal it.
