Japanese director Takashi Shimizu is probably best known to casual movie goers as the director of The Grudge and its sequel, and he’ll be once again exploring the wrath of the supernatural in 7500.

The trailer for the film attempts to give us all one more reason to hate airline travel, as ghosts now seem to travel in first-class style (coach only when they have to).

Check out the trailer for 7500, which features a plethora of young actors and familiar faces, including True Blood star Ryan Kwanten, Iron Man‘s Leslie Bibb, Crank‘s Amy Smart, Entourage‘s Jerry Ferrara, Scout Taylor-Compton (Halloween), and Jamie Chung (Sucker Punch):

The idea of ghosts being on a plane is different, to say the least – but it’s also a concept that script writer Craig Rosenberg better explain quickly and effectively in the film, otherwise, the whole premise is going to unravel pretty quickly.

While I personally enjoyed The Grudge (and even its sequel) it’s clear that not everyone is a fan of his idea of a ghost story. At this point though, I’m willing to try anything that is different from the now done-to-death haunted house yarn. If the film does its job effectively, airplanes will get scary for a whole new reason.

7500 will be in theaters on August 31, 2012

  1. Sorry, this looks stupid and far from scary :-/

  2. yeah the trailer didnt do nothing for me, neither did the music. now i have leaving on a jet plane stuck in my head but im not scared. unimpressed so far

    • Um, no.

  3. So it’s been confirmed. If you leave your electronics on during take-off, ghosts will take over your plane… *turns off cell phone*

  4. Something was missing from that trailer….but I can’t tell if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.

  5. I wrote a script treatment quite similar to this about 5 years ago called 37,000. It was about ghosts, a haunting on a 747. Damn Hollywood stealing all my ideas!

  6. Now all I can think of is Sam L shouting “Get these mother*** ghosts off this mother*** plane!”

This trailer looked as stupid as that movie. I’d only see this bc Takashi Shimizu is directing and Leslie Bibb is in it.

  7. Snakes on a Plane meets (the Anne Hathaway movie) Passengers.

Maybe the plane will be haunted by the ghosts of the teens on the plane in the first Final Destination movie. ;)

  8. I’d only watch this to see Amy smart ;)

  9. Is this trailer supposed to make me scared by blacking out all the time?

I am pretty tired of the constant quick cut scene to black style of all trailers nowadays…

  10. I am sick of these mother f-ing ghosts on this mother f-ing plane!

    • haha that made me giggle.

  11. Yeah, I hate to watch the Grudge because its super scary but this trailer didn’t really show anything.I was hoping for it to be like the Grudge, but it wasn’t.

  12. It was different looking. Sure it did’t scare me at all, but that doesn’t mean it might or might not be a good movie. It might be suspenseful, who knows. All I can say is i’ll be watching it.

  13. There was also Turbulence, The Ghosts of Flight 401 (which I didn’t know existed until researching this) and the TV movie based off the Stephen King book, The Langoliers. So flying is already scary, Kofi. You think you’re so smart.

  14. that how you make trailer.not show the all plot from the movie.leave the excited in cinema.well done!

  15. Ghosts on a Plane is another good movie to watch. I love horror movies and Takashi Shimizuas the director, I think you need to watch it if you like horror movies.

  16. looks very funny and not so much scary.
