Just in time for the New Year we have some nice new pictures for you from the upcoming and eagerly-awaited Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
So, for the fans who are still disappointed about having to wait all the way until next July to get your Harry Potter fix or if you are upset that you have to pay twice as much to see the final Harry Potter book on screen, hopefully these beautiful images will cheer you up… that is, if your partying tonight doesn’t. ![]()

Although not a Harry Potter fan myself, I still enjoy watching them once. Screen Rant master Vic says it best and this statement from him on his feelings on the franchise matches mine perfectly:
“You know it’s funny – I kind of enjoy the Harry Potter movies, but I don’t love ‘em or anything. It’s like popcorn – enjoy it while it’s there, but when it’s done, it’s done.”
Take a look at the images and see what you think:

The one thing I must always give the Harry Potter filmmakers credit for is their set design. For the scenes not involving green-screen backgrounds, the sets are pretty amazing and really give you the vibe and feel of the story’s environment.
I think all of these screen caps are great except the one with Ron and Harry looking around the tree which is just ordinary. Either way, the movie should prove to be quite visually appealing as they seem to improve effects-wise with each successive installment.
Now on to discussing the 7th installment to the Harry Potter series being split into two separate films… To me this is such a blatant money-grabbing scheme since they’ll probably be filming these movies back-to-back and leaving plenty of unnecessary scenes that would normally be cut out of a theatrical release (that is, if it were made as one film).
On the other hand, the book is long and the more to see on the screen the merrier, especially if it meansdoing the full story justice. Then again, the third Lord of the Rings film was super long and they didn’t split that up to make more money…and they certainly could have if you saw how long the extended edition was for that.
Interestingly enough, the cast of the Harry Potter movies were as surprised as we movie-goers and fans were about the splitting of the film into two. MTV spoke with Emma Watson who plays Hermione Granger and she expressed her confusion on the topic.
“I am as intrigued as you are. I am waiting at the moment to receive the script. It’s a tough call. I’m sure it will be some cruel cliffhanger.”
Good point Emma! It will probably end in a non-satisfying cliff hanger. The countless folks who have read the book obviously know how the film will end up playing out, but from a theatrical perspective that’s a bit of a downer. Especially considering the potential delays and amount of time between the debuts of the two halves of the film.
What do you think of the images? How do you feel about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows being split into two films?
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince should hit theaters July 17 2009.

I think that this movie and DH will be awesome!!! All I care about is that the main plot pieces are in and it has AWESOME effects…. after that its just personal opinion.
I think that Order of the Phoenix could have been made into two movies as well as that book was quite long and had a lot of good elements that weren’t in the movie…I’m sure that the major reason for breaking the final book into two films is a cash grab by WB and JKR..but if there are a lot of plot points that would have to be left out to make it into one movie then I think the final film would not be as good if they try to cram it all into one film..
Geez Louise did that make any sense?
What im a bit disappointed about is some of the key elements they left out in the other movies that is important to DH. I can understand some of the earlier movies but they should have started estblishing some that stuff as soon as they knew the stuff they needed for the last one (I wont specify just so I wont ruin it for the very few people who havent read the book lol). Im couriose to see how DH will turn out, since it is being split into 2 movies. God that is going to suck when they release the first one, Emma is right they are going to leave us on a cliffhagner. :p
As for HBP I dont mind waiting too much. All the pictures look good except for the one with Ron and Harry behind the tree. Whats up with that?
WOW!! I love this pics! I’m dying to see the next sequel of my favorite book and movie, HARRY POTTER SERIES!! Happy NEw YEar to all the HP fans out there! Let’s support HP! HP RULES!! yohooo!! hehehe..
EXPECTO PATRONUM!!..>3
I think splitting the 2nd on in 2 is a huge mistake. Not speaking from the fans point of view, which doesn’t really matter to those money hungry ****heads in Hollywood. I think the franchise will be slowly losing it’s appeal, as was stated earlier this week about the concern of some execs about the profit to be lost possibly by making a 7th film. I think the splitting them in 2 would hurt their Boxoffice gross, especially because everyone or almost everyone has read the books and knows the “cliffhangers”, I just don’t see a reason to be so blatant about their greed, and I have a feeling it’ll backfire on them, or at least hope it will if they do split the 7th one.
oops… meant the 7th one
When I was waiting in line the night Deathly Hallows went on sale, many of us fans were talking about the 5th movie. Most people were upset because of the things that were left out of the movie. People were complaining that it should have been an extemely long movie or made into 2 movies. There were a lot of fans very vocal about this. Maybe WB are listening to these people? I wasn’t sure if 2 movies for book 5 would be paractical. I love the idea of two movies for DH but only if they can find a good place for the split. It was very hard that my favorite parts from book 5 weren’t in the movie. I liked the movie but I was really glad I had read the books first or I’m not sure things would have made sense to me. I like the idea of the last book/movie taking more time so things make more sense. Deathly Hallows was the only one of the HP books that I had to go back and reread things a few times to completely understand what happened at the end. Besides I’m not ready for the movies to be finished.
I CANNOT WAIT TIL IT COMES OUT!!
I think splitting the last one into 2 movies is a good idea. DH doesn’t have a traditional subplot like the others do (Ron’s becoming keeper in “Phoenix”, Hermione’s campaign to liberate the house elves in “Goblet of Fire”), so there’s a lot of story to deal with. I for one am hoping Snape’s involvement in the tale will be given full justice.
As an avid Harry Potter fan I was ecstactic to learn that DH would be split into 2 movies. There was so much in the first 5 movies that was weakened because it could not be fully explained with length-constraints of 2 to 3 hours. It may be about the money, but for those who have not read the book, it is the best way to fully tie up all the loose ends of the whole story. I felt the same way about the Lord of the Rings Trilogy-Some parts were incomprehensible because you had to read the book to get full understanding.
I really love thoese pictures.
I can’t wait til July to watch the movie.
I wish Deathly Hollow movie will be also come out in 2009.
I love you dani
The thing is, if they split the second movie in two, then the final half will premier at about the time the Harry Potter portion of Islands of Adventure opens up. That gives them an enormous opportunity to create a large premier party, since Universal has an IMAX theatre in CityWalk. They can premier the movie and officially open the theme park on the same day, and they’ll make oodles of money. Die hard fans would fly in from all over the world, and as a resident of central Florida, I can say that I welcome the revenue it will bring to our state.
I can’t wait the see the neckless scene and quidditch. we only have 7 months to go!!!
well, i’ve waited for this movie. to be honest, spliting the 6th movie is not a wise thing. all know that the Horcruxes Hunting begins in this part, but just pay attention to the important things. better if WB make the film longer. however, i agree if WB split the last movie, DH, since it is very complicated but amazing story.
