Mr. Mom (1983)

With a story that seems like something closer to our current economic times, Mr. Mom stars Michael Keaton as a father who loses his job and decides to become a stay at home father while his wife, played by Teri Garr, continues to work. Sounds like a good plan except for the fact that Keaton has never taken care of the kids and household responsibilities before. Your mom is sure to love Keaton, and Garr is easy on the eyes. Let the hilarity begin!
Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)

Mrs. Doubtfire is another movie where the man becomes the woman to ensure that comedy hi-jinks occur. Robin Williams plays a father who is so intent on spending time with his 3 kids after a bitter divorce that he transforms himself into an old English woman to get the job of their nanny. The movie has many great, funny and memorable scenes including my favorite with Williams face covered in meringue saying “Hellllo!” It’s a proven fact that all moms love Robin Williams and this movie is no exception.
Junior (1994)

Technically this is a movie about a male scientist becoming pregnant and not a woman but because he gives birth, I think that still qualifies him as a mom. Granted the gender bending mother in question is played by Arnold Schwarzenegger which makes him a thick neck mom but regardless, the movie is still funny if only when watching with your own mother. The beauty of watching Junior though, is that your father can join in on the festivities as well and make it a family affair.
So those are our Mother’s Day movie suggestions for geeks to watch with their beloved moms. It’s not a perfect list (and not a top 6 list by any means) but it’s a solid list of films that most people have probably forgotten about. Speaking of forgetting, I need to go get a card and some flowers before my own mother comes over for lunch. I think we’ll watch Junior.

Oh man she's gonna hit me for this one. Love you Mom!

The mom in Transformers would lead the charge in worst movie mom of all time
all those movies sucked (Throw Mama and Doubtfire were “ok”)
if your gonna have a list of good mothersday movies, have good movies in it. “Incredibles” “Sound of Music” “Forrest Gump” “Termenator 2″ “Changling” would have all been good choices
Even “Psycho” would have been better than “Junior”
“A Boys best friend should be his mother.”
You missed the point but it’s OK. This wasn’t a best of list or even a favorites list. It was just a list of films that had some form of mother in the title and were merely suggestions.
It’s a Mother’s Day post dude. Chill out.
i’m allowed to complain here about movies and dispute others opions with my own. thats the point of a movie forum, to have an intelligent conversation about movies. i disagree with the list and i gave my reasons. now someone can agree or disagree with me adding to the conversation. i dont have a problem with people giving there two sence (as long as its not stupid) so long as it’s relevent to the topic. telling someone to “chill out” because they confuse disagreement with anger doesnt really add anything.
My mom’s movie is “I Remember Mama.” Starring Irene Dunne, it’s about a poor Norwegian immigrant family and the daughter who wants to be a writer and all the mushiness that a story like this can entail. My mom is from a Norwegian family and this movie hits her right in the heart. Every year, my dad and I suck it up and watch this with her. Try it on your mom. Just shut up, hand her Kleenex, and make her happy.
To my son: Enjoyed spending Mother’s Day with you and your family.
