Lord, Please let this movie rule when it comes out and don't let it be out performed by some stupid romantic-comedy.
  • Soundwave
    Doubtful...
  • @Soundwave

Well I guess we'll find out in a couple of weeks, won't we? Beowulf 3D footage was premiered during Comic-Con, BTW.

  • Soundwave
Footage yes, trailer no. IMO at least.
  • SK-47
Soundwave, anything could happen these days, never know.
Watchmen had a lot of hype behind it, and well, what happened? I am like you man, I doubt Avatar will not perform well after all of Cameron's hard work, but you never know.
There might be that one shanty movie that audiences might go to instead.
  • James Cameron
    SK-47

I think the movie rock and be awesome but I doubt we will see a trailer until just before the movie is released if at all.
  • @Soundwave

Where above does it say "trailer?" It says footage.

    Vic
  • James Cameron
    Vic

we're just talking here. i know you didn't say there would be a trailer. no hostility. i just mentioned it because everyone wants to see a trailer and has been asking for one for a long time. these guys (including me probably lol) got you all worked up over this Transformers review. you don't have to defend yourself all the time. just because those daniel or ken isn't around defending you doesn't mean you have to take offense :) i meant nothing towards you, more towards James Cameron.

oh and daniel and ken j
i think Vic can handle himself without you guys coming to his rescue. :)
  • @James

I'm not worked up. There are just certain commenters that always seem to have an attitude so they're on my radar screen.

    Vic
  • Iron Knight
Ohh, I'd better want a trailer, for the ones not attending like me. Maybe the footage itself will be leaked, but that would suck since it's in 3D.
  • King-of-Riva
    Awesome news...

However i really want some clip on 3D specs to go over my glasses because wearing two paris of specs is really uncomfortable; clip on thingys should be provided imo.

Mini-rant aside, this film looks prety cool. We'll all have a better idea of the quality when the trailer comes out though : )
  • jago
i myself would prefer footage just for the fact that trailers now a days show too much of the movie... if i were to make a trailer of a movie i made i would put soo much stuff in the trailer and when you see the movie... its a completely different thing...lol.

    When exactly is SDCC?

Because if someone videos it secretly and then uploads it on youtube directly afterwards, I'm going to be waiting with the words "Avatar movie footage from SDCC" in the search title hoping to see it before it gets taken down. :D

Kofi if they give you guys time to answer questions then ask when a trailer will come out, WE ALL WANNA KNOW!
  • Stephen
    To ask questions*
  • The Avatar presentation is on Wednesday, July 23rd.

    Vic
  • Ken
I've had it with all these "uncredited sources." Can't Fox open their mouths for once and just TELL us what's going on and when's it's going on???? Or maybe that's just asking for too much.
  • gottarhyme
    Hey, Vic;

Do you remember when film premiers used to come to the local cinema with a 'programme'?

My Mum and Dad used to collect them. 'West Side Story', Dr Zhivago, etc.

I went to the 'Firefly' (Joss Whedon pre-screening) in Sydney, and we were all given programmes, CDs of the music, etc.

Do they still do that at Comicon?
  • 790
Photorealistic 3D was supposed to not require glasses. ???

So far this film warrants no over the top buzz it seems to be infecting people with.
  • Fenix
I believe digital 3d theaters are being developed for movies like this one. Certain big directors like spielberg and peter jackson have already started shooting in digital 3d. It of course will still be viewable in 2d but you won't of course get the full experience. Oh and whoever thinks Avatar will purely be a love story is nuts. Cameron said it himself that the 2nd half of the movie is all action. Sounds epic I can't wait for a first look.
  • Ken J
July 23?? Why not July 08?? lol dammit I'm impatient...
  • @gottarhyme

They sometimes give out "goodie bags" at panels.

    Vic
  • SK-47
    @James Cameron,
is that really you? Where the hell is True Lies 2!!!

    :D

Vic, are you going to be at comic con?
  • @SK-47

Yes, I'll be there - along with Kofi, Bruce and Rob K.

And no, that's not really James Cameron. And if he tries posting comments pretending to be the "real" one, I'll delete them.

    Vic
  • James Cameron
My gosh people take a joke. Who needs tissues?
  • X-Mentos
Dorkself.com? a reliable source? really? you are actually creating a news blog from a site that gets 12 site hits a day? really?

    http://www.statbrain.com/www.dorkself.com/

Anyway, I think you would have to be living under a rock to not conclude they will be showing Avatar footage. Not exactly a big shocker here. So at least I credit dorkself for going with a high percentage success rate guess.
  • @ X-Mentos,

I just read the Internet, bro. Find things where I can. Anytime you have a good direction for me, point it out.
  • Ken J
Wow, my website gets more than 10 times that every day... according to that though... I should check my own stats to see if it matches up, lol.
  • Ken J
Ok, actually, that site's pretty accurate, this last week's average is pretty close to the number that site came up with...
  • @X-Mentos

Dude, cool your jets. Here's the opening line of this article:

"Website Dorkshelf is running an exclusive claiming they have it from a “reliable” (though uncredited) source"

Notice we said "claiming" and "uncredited" in an effort to put this in perspective.

And just a little while ago, this was released on the official Comic-Con site:

Thursday - 12:45-2:00 20th Century Fox and James Cameron present Avatar— In this first public screening of footage in 3D from his much-anticipated action/adventure/fantasy, James Cameron, producer Jon Landau, and cast members take you to a spectacular new world beyond imagination. Conceived 14 years ago and over four years in the making, Avatar breaks new ground in delivering a fully immersive, emotional story and reinvents the movie-going experience. Hall H
