360 is headlined by such well-known names as Oscar-winners Anthony Hopkins and Rachel Weisz, along with Jude Law and Ben Foster (The Messenger), working from a script penned by Oscar-nominee Peter Morgan (The Queen, Frost/Nixon), under the direction of Oscar-nominated Brazilian director Fernando Meirelles (Cidade de Deus (City of God), The Constant Gardener).
However, despite those marketable credentials, the film will be made available on iTunes near the end of this month, before it (unceremoniously) begins a limited theatrical release in the U.S. later this summer. Today, we have a trailer and poster for 360 to share.
Morgan’s screenplay for 360 was partly inspired by Arthur Schnitzler’s play Reigen (La Ronde), which examines the sexual relationships between people from different levels of Viennese society. 360 broadens its gaze to encompass multiple narrative threads that take place in a variety of settings (Vienna, Bratislava, Paris, London, Rio, Phoenix, and Denver). Those storylines involve such characters as an elderly man still mourning the loss of his daughter (Hopkins), a married couple who are both caught up in affairs (Law and Weisz), and a sex offender fresh out of prison (Foster), among other characters.

The release schedule for 360 is a result of the film’s failure to generate interest after being given a decidedly cool reception from the folk who attended last year’s Toronto and London Film Festivals (it premiered during opening night of the latter). Early reviews for 360 peg it as being well-acted, but too muddled and ineffective in its execution. Hence, it marks the second “dud” in a row for Morgan and Mendes, who are both coming off projects that were also widely dubbed to be overly ambitious and dull (Hereafter and Blindness, respectively).
Of course, there are plenty of film lovers out there who will be more than willing to watch a thoughtful drama with some great performances – even if the movie (as a whole) doesn’t live up to its potential. Anyone who fits that bill might want to give 360 a look.
360 will be available on iTunes beginning June 29th, 2012. It will be given a limited theatrical release in the U.S., starting August 3rd.

Wow, have you never heard of Jude Law? I’d call him a pretty well-known name. Remove head from sand.
I’m going to watch this movie. It looks like a pretty good watch.
You do realize that when I wrote “well-known names,” I was referring to all the actors I listed thereafter (Hopkins, Weisz, Law, and Foster)?
That’s also the reason I didn’t feel the need to mention any of Law’s previous films – I assume most people reading the article know who he is.

I presume that’s meant to be be “Morgan and Meirelles”, unless Sam Mendes (who’s also coming off a couple of duds) is executive-producing or something.
