30 Awesome Minimalist Superhero Posters

5 years ago by

We here at Screen Rant wanted to celebrate the upcoming summer movie season – particularly the release of Iron Man 2 – by taking an unconventional look at some of the most iconic superheroes in the entertainment industry.

Over the past few months, you may have caught some of our “SR Picks” which highlighted various artists’ interpretations of Quentin Tarantino films, Star Wars and popular television series. Today, we’re stepping out from solely presenting these wonderful posters and taking the initiative to create some of our own.

For the past three nights, I put my need for a good night’s sleep aside in order to present you, the reader, with literally dozens of superhero posters with a unique, minimalist twist.

Some may be more obvious than others, but hopefully you’ll have no problem identifying each and every comic-book icon represented. If, for some reason, you’re not a fan of the typical comic book hero (Capes & Cowls), I’ve also thrown in some of my favorite off-beat superhero characters from television’s past.

I apologize in advance if your favorite superhero is not included, but I’m sure with 30 posters to choose from you’ll have no problem finding something to pique your interest. You can click on the posters below for a larger version of each.

Without further ado… Enjoy!

There you have it! Screen Rant‘s first foray into the minimalist poster universe.

What did you think of our minimalist superhero posters and which was your favorite? Which superhero would you have liked to see that we might have missed? Would you like to see more of this from us, and if so what other subjects would you like to see get the minimalist treatment? Can you still sing the entire Darkwing Duck theme song?

Make sure to comment below. We’d love to hear what you think.

(Special thanks to fellow Screen Rant writers Mike Eisenberg, for planting the minimalist-idea seed, and Paul Young, for getting equally as little sleep as me in order to help me fully realize and develop the idea – as well as designing the wonderful Aquaman, Hawkeye, Punisher and Thing posters.)

  1. Very nice work. I particularly like Darkwing Duck and the fact that Quailman was even included.

  2. These are pretty cool guys. Wolverine and Doc Manhattan are my favourites, and I LOVE the inclusion of Duffman! OHHH YEAHHHH!!!

  3. Spidey should have the spider chest logo sans mask.
    Wolvie should have narrower eyes.
Where the hell is Kick Ass?

  4. Spidey should have the spider chest logo sans mask.

  5. I was expecting Batman's to be just a silhouette of his mask. Can we get that instead? Other than that I thought they were brilliant.

  6. I'm not understanding what it is you want to do with the picture? It's just his name in red letters.

Everyone on this list carries a lot of firepower or what not. If he was to do every recognizable item from each person then that would be very minimalistic would it :)

  7. The problem with doing just a mask is that there are a lot similar masks. It's hard sometimes to do just the mask for that reason.

  8. Hit Girl is on there……

  9. …and I'm lazy.

  10. Pretty Freaking Sweet. Nice work team!

  11. Maybe next time – there are a few others we'll get on there as well hopefully :-)

  12. Yah, that's all the movie needs, Kick Ass (the character, not the movie) sucked, Hit Girl was better…

  13. Might think it's big daddy from Kick Ass, lol.

  14. exactly my point :)

  15. Haven't seen the movie, but I heard he kept getting his “Ass-Kicked”……….

  16. Instead of criticizing, do better. You know the old expression: “Put up or shut up.”

  17. Hey where is Captain Mal?

  18. I was talking about the logo, not his name. The Concentric circles of red (hood), black (eye patches) and white (eyes) split horizontally (represents his fractured mind). It's a simple logo and minimalist as well.

When i saw the katanas, my first thought wasn't DP, it was Misty Knight or Heroes for Hire.

And I'm not trashing the posters, they are great. But honestly, TECHNICALLY, they aren't ALL minimalist. If the were, it would be just logos on 1 or 2 color backgrounds with no masks. For Captain America, I would have a closeup of the star and rings on the shield. For Spidey, the black spider on red background. For Green Lantern, black ring on green background.

But that's me. I think they nailed Dr. Manhattan and Iron Fist, tho.

  19. Can't please everyone and honestly we weren't trying to :) Glad you liked the ones you mentioned though.

  20. Artie! Weren't his glasses just basic rectangles though? I'm liking Rogue and Thing particularly, and Quailman made me grin.

  21. Pretty much all he accomplishes in the movie, lol.

  22. Most are decent, but you screwed up the colors of Superman's logo.

  23. Sweet posters, gentlemen!

  24. These were all great and I really can't choose one as my favorite. I was, however, surprised to see the likes of Doug Funny's alter ego (one of many), Quail Man on there. Pleasantly surprised, that is. I'm surprised Duck Dodgers didn't make the foray…or would he even be considered a superhero? I think so.

  25. that flash one remides me of kid flash

  26. GAMBIT!

  27. You forgot the greatest hero ever – darkwing duck. :)
