Be warned, this post contains a spoiler about season seven of Fox’s 24.
Season six of 24 is for me, the one in which the series finally ran out of steam. I will of course be tuning in for the season 7 premiere (in January?) but I’ll be watching with a jaded eye. Last season started out weaker than the previous five and took much longer to suck me in. And despite the fact that they set off a nuke in L.A. it never really grabbed me as much as the previous “days.” The nail in the coffin was when the story abruptly shifted gears about 3/4 of the way through with the “Jack must save Aubrey” storyline.
Ok, on to the latest…

I actually like the fact that no one on the show is safe from being killed (except for Jack Bauer, of course) as it heightens the drama. On other shows where you know that the main characters will be there next week no matter what, it takes a lot of the suspense out of whatever predicament they’re in. Last season the writers killed off some of the regular characters on the show, one of which was extremely popular: CTU agent Tony Almeida.
Well just like Lazarus, Tony is being resurrected from the dead.
I think fans of the show will be torn over this turn of events: On the one hand, Almeida is an awesome character on the show and was just great to watch. However on the other… he was DEAD.
That undermines the show IMHO, and there was no “Lana Lang disappearing behind a truck” ambiguity to his death. He was in the med center in CTU and died due to his injuries from an explosion. White sheet pulled over his head and everything.
This is no doubt a move by the producers to counteract the bad press and falling ratings of last season. Now the writers on the show have been quite brilliant in the past, so I’ll withhold judgement on Tony’s resurrection until I see how they work it into the show… but knee jerk reaction?
Come ON now.

Actually, he survived the explosion no problem…just a scratch on the cheek. He died when the needle of chemicals that he was going to inject into his wife’s killer was turned on him in a moment of hesitation.

Wow… how silly is that? On the other hand, Carlos Bernard (who plays Tony) spent quite a few years doing soap operas, which are known for resurrecting dead characters all the time. Gotta give points for consistency…

Yeah I hear you…then again they can make it part of some coverup the same way they tricked people into thinking Jack had been killed so that the Chinese wouldn’t take him. It would mean Tony has been in hiding for a while or doing some kind of super covert-ops.
Somehow I doubt the writers would be so bold and ridiculous to actually have Tony arrive at CTU with an armsling (although after last season, its possible, I guess.) Might it be that they make the next season a story about Jack’s past, possibly before we met Jack in Season 1? If they could get a good number of past cast members to join in, it might be just the thing to get viewers to forgive them for the ridiculousness last season and relive the characters we all started watching the show for in the first place. Just a thought.

Ever think that after all this guy has been through, he just needs some sleep? And after all the adrenaline and drug addiction, season 7 may be just a vivid 24-hour long dream sequence? He’s supposed to be a vigalante, which is out of character for him and then Tony is back from the dead. Seems plausable to me…..

In FACT, it was never specified what was in the syringe which Tony got jabbed with. Tony wanted Henderson to talk about his involvement in the conspiracy so it could have been some CTU wonder truth drug which made him collase but not die.
No white sheets or even a body was seen and MOST importantly …

I agree with MKnight. We don’t have any conclusive evidence tellin us that the stuff in that syringe was fatal. Plus, clearly the writers will think of a real good reason that explains his reappearance….And even if they don’t (they really frickin should, though..), it’s Tony Almeida! Be glad he’s back!
this is to congratulate the key actors .most likely jack baure .but when is 7th season going to be launched in africa
