24 season 7 24 Season 8 Trailer Revs a Mighty Engine

Shortly after 9-11, there was a television series that took viewers on a weekly terrorist-fueled adventure. It was based “in real-time,” covering 24 consecutive hours each season with a cast that has made impressions of all kinds over the last eight years. Taking a “day at a time” had a completely new meaning. Whether they’ve weathered kidnappings, terrorist incursions, caravan ambushes or deadly nerve gas, we’ve all come to love the cast of “24″ for one reason or another.

Fox has released the new trailer for season 8 and after taking a gander, I have to say I am impressed. I’ve been marveling at the cast additions that have sprung up over the last several months and as usual, their shooting schedule is raucous as ever.

It’s time to rev the 24-love gas pedal again.

Included this season along with staple characters we love are a large number of proven character actors gravitating to this last installment of 24 and it looks action-packed already.

While I will always say that John McClaine/Bruce Willis invented the successful, “man in the wrong place at the wrong time” model, there’s something about taking that same viewpoint, jamming it into 24 consecutive hours in a prime-time television program that wholly belongs to Jack Bauer and 24.

Here’s to inviting a great new season, another large, racing-against-time cast into the Monday night slot of my life and millions across the Globe. It all starts on January 17th, 2010 – well, actually, with this trailer.

What do you think?

  1. Can’t wait to see a new approach next season. :)

  2. I can’t wait to see another 24, I hope there’s a strong “official” version of Jack that can command the screen.

It’s good to see “Cliff Simons” (Ba`al from stargate) getting some more work, I hope it’s a steady roll.

  3. Get ready to see another side of the United Nations,,, I think this will be the best season since seasons 2 and 5,,,

    Pay attention folks!

    Great post Mike. Nice job,!

  4. I am looking forward to it but But no more of Jack being sick.
I REALLY didnt like that .

  5. It may be old by now but I still love the show.

  6. So excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

24 is the greatest tv show of all time. I met Carlos Bernard last week at a dvd signing, he was really cool, hope Tony is back in some capacity.

Season 7 was a real return to form and i hope they continue like that for this, Jack Bauer’s Last Day.

  7. Can’t wait!!!! And I agree with aGeneral about the actor who played Ba’al in SG1.

  8. I read somewhere that sutherland was contracted for a ninth season, is that not true

  9. 24 has been a “must see” show at my house for several years (everything — and I mean EVERYTHING — comes to a halt when the show comes on), so I can’t wait for the new season.

  10. Looks awesome!! “24″ is one of my all-time favorite shows and it looks like it isn’t slowing down one bit!! The next 2.5 months are going to crawl by!! :P

  11. Yeah, I also thought there were plans for a ninth season.
Nice seeing cap’n Aceveda in the trailer.

  12. Cant wait. I love 24.

I was very unhappy with the ending of last season – it seemed with the exposure of uber-liberal Garofola in the cast (if you’re unsure of what I mean do some google on some of her most infamous anti-american comments), the show took a turn to the “we are the world” approach and was completely atypical and lost credibility with me as a viewer – as it applies to Jack. It just seems that hollywood’s liberal views infected it finally, and America being America’s biggest enemy cliche that Tom Cruise and Co. has pushed down our throats for too long soured my love for the show.

Jack being sick half the season was not fun, either. The other good characters are Bill – now dead, and Tony, the traitor was an unnecessary cliche story plot; and thankfully Chloe’ was her normal spaz self. Hopefully Jack and 24 will be back to his ruthless unflinching and uncompromising self that made him and show so riveting for many years now, and hopefully Chloe will be just as omnipresent as she deserves to be.

  13. Thx Kal_E,
It is very nice to have 24 back with season 8. Jack, Chloe Taylor and Renee are very characters that must be watched. But with the absence of Tony Almeida, I still miss something to full blossom o f the series.
