’24: Live Another Day’ First Full Trailer & Images

Published 5 months ago by

Fans desperate to see another day in the life of counter terrorist agent Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) must be frantic for the series to return with 24: Live Another Day. Season 9 of Fox’s 24 will only be 12 episodes long, unlike the typical 24 episode seasons where each episode covered events as they happened in real time, one hour out of the day.

While this new format may seem limiting, it’s actually proven the opposite as producer Howard Gordon explained they can now cover consecutive hours, “then skip 3 hours if we need to.” This flexibility allows Live Another Day to tell a more concise story, and as you can see in the first full trailer (above), it hasn’t stopped them from jam-packing episodes with intense, heart-stopping action.

This season takes place four years after the season 8 finale and finds Jack in London where he must stop “an unthinkable terrorist attack that could change the world forever.” Plenty of familiar faces are returning – Chloe O’Brien (Mary Lynn Rajskub), Audrey Raines (Kim Raver) James Heller (William Devane) – but new faces are joining in on the high-octane fun, too: Yvonne Strahovski (Dexter), Giles Matthey (Jobs), Gbenga Akinnagbe (The Wire), Michael Wincott (The Crow) and Michelle Fairley (Game of Thrones).

Get a glimpse at the cast, old and new, in these recently released images from Live Another Day‘s special two-hour premiere (courtesy of EW):

24 has already cemented itself into television history, what with becoming the longest-running TV drama focusing on espionage and terrorism. In its later seasons, however, there was some criticism over the characterization of Jack Bauer, with some fans complaining he’d become too much of a superhero being tasked to save the whole world over and over.

Live Another Day promises a return to the more grounded, small-scale crises Jack faced in earlier seasons. But obviously, thwarting a terrorist plot in one of the world’s largest cities is going to have global implications.

What are you expecting from 24: Live Another Day? Will Jack be able to save the day for a record ninth time? Sound off in the comments!

  1. It would be cool if Sutherland were to grow a mullet and a beard for this film and also wear an eyepatch

    • Are you wanting Sutherland to be Solid Snake?

      • I posted that comment just for laughs and giggles. I’m only curious about how his VO for Big Boss will be in MGS5

  2. Can’t wait!!!

  3. Looks great, though that chloe looks a bit odd but nah there’s probably a good reason so don’t care. I think this 12 episode might be good for the show because as great as 24 was every season had a few of those off episodes that just served no purpose and were filler, the last episodes of season 7 being a prime example, and the Cyprus recording stuff in season 2. Season 2 could’ve easily been the best season if it had just been a tighter 12 episode arc focusing on the nuke. Really looking forward to this since one can never get enough of Jack.

  4. Really looking forward to this, missed the show a hell of a lot. Can’t wait to see Stephen Fry playing the Prime Minister. Non-English readers might recognise him as the guy who played Mycroft Holmes – Sherlock’s brother – opposite Robert Downey Jr in the Sherlock Holmes sequel and as one half of the comedy duo Fry & Laurie opposite Hugh Laurie.

He’s pretty much a national institution and very much loved and respected by everyone.

    • I recall seeing and hearing Fry in The hobbit 2, v for vendetta, the fable series and Alice and Wonderland.

    • He always cracked me up as the Melchett characters in Blackadder.

    • Watched him on Top Gear.

  5. Only a couple months, can’t wait!

  6. All I gotta say is “JACK IS BACK”. Whooooooo!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Start working at home with Google! Just work for few hours and have more time with friends and family. I earn up to $500 per week. It’s a great work at home opportunity. I can’t believe how easy it was once I tried it out. Linked here

  8. Can’t wait! And Aubrey is finally back, I wonder if they are going to continue her story as a basketcase or if she she finally overcame her “trauma.”
Either way, I’m glad to have my favorite show back. I’m actually happy they didn’t do a 2 hr major motion picture and instead opted for this 12 hour arc.

  9. May 5th can’t arrive fast enough.

Most of the time when a series ends I’m fine with it but even though I thought the last couple of seasons weren’t that great I miss the show.
Even at its worst it was a good time which can’t be said for a lot of shows.

  10. Love this show. Even if this season is short 12 episodes, it’s still half a shot of whisky (i.e. gets your blood pumping).
Love Chloe’s new darker somewhat “Lisbeth Sallander” look.

    • Yeah, it suits her progression throughout the series. She started out as an annyoing snarky geek chick with a 24/7 “b**** resting face” and turned to a really cool and likeable partner and friend for Jack over the years. There are few characters in TV shows and movies that grew as much on me as Chloe did. They better not kill her off now, or I’ll be mad!

      • *turned into

      • You and I both.
I still remember Edgar Stiles; the other tech that worked alongside her at CTU… the way they “got rid of him” really surprised me. Then again, so did Tony Almeida. Still remember Chase Edmunds too. God! Those were great characters.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed for reliable Chloe.

        • So many great characters on 24. Remember Nina? Or waaaaaay back in the first season, Jack’s wife? I wish they had done more with Max (like maybe a multi-season arc with Jack taking him down finally.

On the other hand there’s Kim. Ugh! I found it beyond hilarious that she went from a rebellious teen in season 1 to working at CTU in season 3.

  11. Will be awesome. Looking forward to it.

  12. After hearing about the series a month or so I’ve dedicated all free time to watching every episode again.

Currently on Season 3, Episode 4…years after recovering from this addiction I’ve relapsed!

Can’t wait to see Jack and some of the familiar faces again. One thing I would have loved to see is Jack and President Palmer together in the field kicking a$$!
