Roland Emmerich is a talentless hack, and with John Cusack starring in this disaster I’m going to have to pass. John Cusack is one of my least favorite actors (next to Nicholas Cage) and not to mention the article I read in Entertainment Weekly about their portryal of the 9/11 disaster in this film. I hate to sound like Debbie Downer, but this film isn’t worth my money or time. Maybe if you walk in not expecting any storyline or good writing then it’ll be fun, but to me special effects don’t make good movies and I don’t go to a movie for effects.

i still can’t fathom that st.peter’s square scene from the previous trailers. is there such a thing as too much CGI? anyway, disaster films are meant to be eyecandy. Much of the story would just be “GGAAAAHHHHHH!!!”,outrunning debris and near-misses. ^^

The effects look GREAT! However, great sfx in the beginning of the brain dead Day After Tomorrow did not save it from being a crappy movie. Ditto Independence Day, although the scene in the tunnel with the dog was great and overall it was a bit more enjoyable.

I enjoyed Day After Tomorrow and Independence Day, and this looks like, as you said, a great ride. I’m totally in.

The special effects do look great, but I’ve learned from the past to never waste my money on a Roland Emmerich film ever again.
