Proving to be the network that TV enthusiasts need to keep a close eye on, The CW may have only ordered 4 new series (2 for midseason), but it also completely upended the entirety of its programming schedule for the 2012-2013 season.

With Friday night television becoming a more popular place for networks to actually want to air series, The CW is moving Supernatural to Wednesdays at 9pm, following the new superhero series Arrow. Attempting to counter program series such as The X Factor and American Idol, the CW is looking to tap into the audience left untouched by the popular singing competitions. Taking its place against Fringe on Friday night, Nikita may need major fan support, as the series has America’s Next Top Model as its lead-in that night.

The only series remaining in its prior timeslot is The Vampire Diaries. Heading into its fourth season, The CW is hoping to continue to engage fans by coupling the show with its new drama Beauty and the Beast. Will a beast be as beloved as vampires are currently? We’ll have to wait and see.

Rounding out CW’s schedule mix-up, 90210 will move to Mondays before Gossip Girl; and Hart of Dixie, along with new series Emily Owens, M.D., will fill out Tuesday nights.

After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he’s become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel’s father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver’s own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine. The series stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, Colin Donnell as Tommy, Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Willa Holland as Thea Queen, with Susanna Thompson as Moira Queen and Paul Blackthorne as Detective Quentin Lance.

Emily Owens, M.D. (Mondays, 9:00pm)

emily owens md cw Complete Guide To 2012 Fall TV Shows What Will You Watch?
At long last, Emily Owens feels like she is an actual grown-up. She can finally put her high school days as the geeky-girl-with-flop-sweats behind her; she’s graduated from medical school and is now a first-year intern at Denver Memorial Hospital, where she’ll have the chance to work with world-famous cardiologist Dr. Gina Beckett – and where, not-so-coincidentally, her med-school crush Will Rider is also an intern. So why does everyone keep warning her that the hospital is just like high school? Emily soon finds out the hard way – her high school nemesis, the gorgeous, popular Cassandra Kopelson, is also just starting out at Denver Memorial, and it seems like they’re rivals all over again – not only as surgical interns, but for Will’s attention. Fellow intern Tyra Granger warns Emily that the cliques at Denver Memorial are all too familiar: the jocks have become orthopedic surgeons; the mean girls are in plastics; the rebels are in the ER, and Tyra has her own awkward place as the principal’s kid – her father is the chief resident. Emily’s the new kid all over again, and it’s just as awkward as high school. Only this time around, Emily will have to balance the personal and emotional turmoil of social politics with the high-stakes world of life-and-death medical decisions. At least she has fellow intern Tyra and nerdy-but-cute resident Micah, to count on as friends. Emily is growing to realize that although she may be a geek, she may also grow to be a great doctor, flop sweats and all.

  1. I’m sorry, but I thought The New Normal was very boring, not funny at all. I won’t be watching any more!

    • It gets better…I felt the same way…but keep watching…

  2. The Following is the only really good looking show. Kevin Bacon will be fantastic on it. Revolution is a fail (should have started the day of the EMP)…

  3. Shiver me timbers! It is quite annoying that outside the USA one cannot view these trailers, seems tto me to a rum k form o trade restraint, more suitable of a Soviet economic system than fo a free economy.

My own tats suggest the following (Forget the comedy, only native Americans would appreciate that particular form of humour-Fraiser being a notable exception). Yes, 666 Park Avenue looks promising, I’d give it a go, as does Revolution. One of the legal series looks like a copy cat version of The Good Wife, except th good wife is upper middle class married to a Bill Clinton type politician who cna keep his flies zipped up an apparently the new one is shown as poor girl made good. American law and justice shows are excellent like some of the really good Sci-Fi stuff, best of all was LOST, a hard act to follow as the failure of Terra Nova showed. Last Resort looks interesting as Zero Hour might well be. I’ll have to ask Great Aunt Mildred in California to mail me her recorded copies. I’ll pass Mistress and Red Widow on t omy own good Greek wife and to Lolit our trusty Filipina maid and friend of the past 25 years as that material seems to be more appealing to what women generally like.

  4. Just skipped the FOX section, given their history of pulling a series after 3 epsiodes.

Actually, given how many series (and how many good series) were axed last year, I doubt I’ll watching anything until the series gets approval for a 2nd season. Getting tired of cliff hangers that never get resolved. :S

  5. That was a great list!!! Thank you so much for putting it all together. Very detailed… definitely going to watch some of these shows.

  6. Someone necessarily assist to make severely articles I’d state. That is the very first time I frequented your web page and so far? I surprised with the research you made to make this particular submit incredible. Magnificent process!
