There’s plenty of films. There’s just nothing that I would pay to see until then.

For me, between now and March 4:

      The Mechanic
      Sanctum
      Unknown

Looking forward to Kill the Irishman. I’m big fan of Vincent D’Onofrio.
The music kind of sucks though. Not really suited for a 70′s era film.
Also excited for Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2, something fun to watch with the kids.

I just read the first Hunger Games novel and I really enjoyed it as well. I know the director is planning for a PG-13 but I don’t really know how he’s going to pull that off and get across what was in the book.

Great article. Somewhere in the back of my mind I was hoping you guys would do something like this, and bam! Apollo 18 confused me… horror/thriller or whatever with a mission that was canceled? I’m assuming the story will revolve around a mission gone wrong and was canceled as a cover-up. Annnd february is (mostly) looking like a month to skip altogether. Gnomeo and Juliet? pshhh.

Hmm.. 3 Marvels this year. Why am I disappointed. Oh yeah! No Dr. Strange. That boat sank when they decided to bring the Avengers forward.

Lil Monster, I don’t really see much worth going to the theater to see until May. Then I will have to take out a loan just to get me through the Summer. I have read all the articles on a lot of the movies for this Summer but until this article, I didn’t realize just how many movies were coming out this year that I want to go see. I can’t wait for May.

Then the rest of this article just cracked me up. I can’t believe how many stupid movies they are doing this year. Like the Nick Cage goes Ghost Rider in a car. Another Big Momma movie? That one trick pony has been absolutely beat to death. Piranha 3DD? That has to win the title for dumbest movie title of the year. Jack and Jill sounds like something pitched to the movie execs on South Park by Cartman in the Awesome-O Episode. With ideas like this, even the worst of the good movies can’t be all bad.

I am STOKED for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. David Fincher is one of my all time favorite directors, the perfect choice to direct this movie, and Trent Reznor makes the exact kind of dark but sexy music that a story like this requires. Not to mention the cast is killer and if you’ve read the book, you know the plot line is intriguing. Should be a very entertaining film.

Thanks Kofi, really appreciate the synopsis of this years movies. It’s better than anything Total Film or Premiere will do.
Having perused what’s on offer I am appalled at the sheer volume of crap that Hollywood continues to churn out.
Despite that there are a number of films that stand out for me and a few more that command my attention.

As a Sci-Fi/Action and Horror fan the stand-outs for me are:-

Limitless – (Bradley is always watchable…stood out in “My Little Eye”)

Fright Night – (David Tennant’s first major Hollywood gig!!)

Unknown – (Liam does his angry man thing a la “Taken”)

The Eagle – (Romans versus Picts!!)

    Sanctum – (Claustrophobia in 3D!!)

The Mechanic – (You’ll believe a short, balding, squat Laandinahh can kick ass…again!!)

    Apollo 18 – (I don’t know what this is about…but I’m very curious)

Rise Of The Apes – (Looks very promising and better than the last effort)

Dragon Tattoo – (Rooney Mara!! She only had a small role in TSN but my god did she shine. Could do for her what Dragon did for Rapace)

    Others I like:-

    The Thing (It’s not a remake…it’s a prequel)
    Conan
    Sucker Punch
    Barney’s Version
    Drive Angry
    X-Men First Class
    Priest
    Super 8
    Real Steel
    Contagion

Would like to watch “Vanishing On 7th Street”…but it has John Leguizamo in it. Sorry, but I have an irrational dislike of the man.

Finally, I reckon this could be a stand out year for Ryan Gosling and Alex Pettyfer. Gosling as a credible A list actor with serious acting chops and Pettyfer as the goto guy for drawing in the (mainly female) teen audience bucks with vapid, turgid, generic and predictable rubbish that somehow garners millions of dollars.
It should also prove (hopefully) that Justin Timberlake should stick to singing disposable pop ditties and that Rooney Mara should do a lesbian porn film with Sacha Gray…but only because i’m selfish you see!

“now” sounds good. Kinda like logans run? And that soderberg movie contagion sounds like outbreak. I think Dustin Hoffman was in it.

Was MI 4 “GHOST PROTOCOL” always pegged for a Christmas time release? I would have thought it would be planned for Summer like the first 3; at least I believe all 3 were released during the Summer.

Not that I’m unhappy since here lately the holidays seem to see to few good films it worries me that perhaps they (the studios) felt the film could not hold up against Summer time competition.
