I doubt it, if they actually get together, they'll have to split up the next season, because that teasing back and forth is part of the reason why people keep tuning in episode after episode. Once it's "resolved" there will no longer be that mystery to draw them in, lol. I coulod be wrong, heck, they could be together now already, I know your comment was from a month ago and I haven't been keeping up with the show, lol. Sorry for the late reply, been quite busy...

I'm fully with you. I'm ultimately pissed off that the road isn't nominated for anything. it should be nominated for a minimum of the below:

Best Picture
Best Director
Best Adapted Screenplay
Best Actor - Viggo Mortensen
Best Actor/Supporting Actor - Kodi Smit McPhee
Best Supporting Actor - Robert Duvall
Best Supporting Actress - Charlize Theron
Best Original Score
Best Cinematography
Best Sound
Best Sound Mixing
Best Editing
Best Visual Effects

It didn't live up to anyones standards. It was just a live action version of FernGully. I was so bored... Oh No, do you think the bad guys will win? "Get Some!" Grow up!

Best picture should go to a film that lives up to all aspects of the creative process. If the story, theme, underlying context is weak then... Why the hell should it still be nominated? And God help the academy if Avatar wins.

Why is nobody else pissed that THE ROAD was not nominated for anything?

I'm not. It has 82% on Rotten Tomatoes and movies above 70% are a rarity on that site.

Oh and it sells itself to every demographic possible, heh.

It won't win best pic.

I just went back and reread the post you commented on... as opposed to the other arguments I was defending.... I meant to wrtie motion-capture, not stop-motion. I wasn't reading your comment clearly and extremely agitated at having to constantly repeat my defense. So I apologize if I was a bit short in my response. Your comments on the reference of stop-motion were completely justified.

But we can agree that Tim Burton rocked the stop-motion animation, right? :)

In regards to me, right now, I think that motion-capture technology is being used to make a more sophisticated, but still animated, movie. To me the actor gets lost, not in the character but in CGI-space, and then there's nothing for me watch and no one for me to relate to to truly get the experience.

I understand your stance on the movie, I was asking about your reference to stop motion animation... You know what stop motion animation is right???

Unless I'm REALLY missing it, there wasn't any stop motion animation in Avatar, or any movie made in the last 10 years not directed by Tim Burton, lol. Ok, I'm sure there were some, but those were intentional because they wanted that style, but most of the rest of the movies simply use CG...

No joke. When well over 70% of your movie takes place inside a computer (scenery, characters) than that should be considered an animated movie.

My last argument is based on the previously stated comment that "Avatar" was not filmed the same as "The Polar Express" and "A Christmas Carol." Both of which used motion-capture animation. If "Avatar" was not filmed that way then my argument regarding the differences in Nytiri and Gollum is sound. I sound like a broken record.

No. I don't think that Andy Serkis amazingly grew shorter and threatenly thin to play Gollum. But if people can't construct a reasonable argument against my theory of "Avatar" as an animated movie and just merely throw around ridiculous accusations like I think that "The Lord of the Rings" must be animated too, then I am simply going to manipulate their poorly constructed argument to better my own side.

What I meant by Gollum being played and not voiced is that Andy Serkis was on set, in a blue screen suit, acting alongside Elijah Wood and Sean Astin. I haven't seen or heard anything saying that Zoe Saldana filmed her scenes the same way and not just as a voice in a booth reading a script with motion sensors on her face. That was the main point of that comment.

Eh, you're probably right, but I know I enjoyed Up a whole lot more than I would have any of those other movies, but then again, I'm not one of those snobs in the academy, so my opinion doesn't count... :'(

"You made my point in your comment. '...an actor played Golemn (sp), his appearance in the movie is quite different from the actor.' An actor played Gollum. Are you going to tell me that Zoe Saldana played Nytiri or that she voiced her?"

Uuuuhhhh, you realize that Gollum and Nytiri were played by their actor counterparts in the exact same manner right??? Meaning both were motion captured and digitally put into the movie... No, Gollum was not the actor in body paint after getting shorter and losing weight... Did you really think that?? LOL

Stop motion animation???? That was a joke right??

Anyway, do you know how many movies now-a-days use completely CGI scenes? So if you want to consider Avatar an "animated" movie, where do you draw the line for whether a movie is considered animated or not? I think the difference is the fact that all of the main roles in Avatar was acted out by human actors, not "animated" by someone behind a computer. Like with Up, they just had some people doing the voices while all of the characters' movements were animated by computer animation specialists. While with Avatar it was all motion captured so all of it required the human actors to be present for more than just the voices.

The Razzie thing was mostly a joke, but I do think that it would be hilarious if the same movie won an Academy Award for Best Picture and a Razzie Award for Worst Picture, and if any movie could pull that off, it's Avatar.

I think your missing the point of my argument. Magnus said that "Avatar" was NOT filmed the same as "The Polar Express" or "A Christmas Carol" which both used sensors to capture facial expressions of actors.

I then replied that that must mean they didn't capture the actors at all, but merely used their voices and that makes it even more animated than before. Nothing was said definitively of how the movie was filmed.

And please let me know what movie your watching in which you've seen a computer-generated creature feel as real as a human being. That's not possible... because its a computer-generated image and therefore not able to be felt.

And does motion-capture technology really capture the eyes? This is a serious question... where do they put the electrodes for that?

**I meant that Avatar was the first picture to ever combine motion-capure of the face and body AT THE SAME TIME. Previous films have had the facial portions captured at one time and the body portions (if at all) at another time.

Avatar is the FIRST film to EVER combine motion capture. By combine I mean capturing the actors' facial expressions and their movement, so what you see on screen all happened in real time on set. And if you really think that an actor is not needed for those roles then you must be from another time. You could never have a voice over and a computer-generated creature look as real and feel as real as a human being without motion-capturing an actor or actress like you have seen in Avatar where you can see the emotion that their expressions, movements, gestures, and eyes give off. If you can do that without using an actor, I'd like to see it.

You made my point in your comment. '...an actor played Golemn (sp), his appearance in the movie is quite different from the actor.' An actor played Gollum. Are you going to tell me that Zoe Saldana played Nytiri or that she voiced her? I doubt they painted her blue and made her wear 6 foot lifts to get her to look like a Na'vi.

"Avatar" is easily over 70% animation. That well exceeds any CGI I have seen in a sci-fi movie recently.
