LOL! Once more with less feeling? I think that teenagers have been accused of many things. We were once all part of that species.

Poor judgement? Bad taste? I think every generation has its share of fads.

Disco anyone? Flares and muffin tops?? The Bay City Rollers? The fact remains that 'fads' fade, and are soon relegated to the pile in which they belong.

Every 'dog' has its day, as they say. In ten years time, I can guarantee that these same girls will cringe at their lack of judgement and poor taste!

Now, where did I hide that picture of me with the piercing and Mohawk at the Sex Pistols concert?. . .

I find the MTV movie awards incredibly absurd. How could they say that Twilight, a teen's fantasy, is better than a movie like Batman, The Dark Knight. That movie had a message! That movie had something to speak for! That movie wasn't an idiotic, unoriginal tale of vampires! I am so shocked at how ridiculous the votes were. Twilight, the book itself, isn't all that original. A story of vampires? You can foresee every step of the story. She falls in love but nothing can happen because she's human so she decides to turn into a vampire. THE END. Its any teens ridiculous fantasy to have a gorgeous, IMMORTAL man in their grasp for all eternity! Well, I guess the whole female population voted for that movie. In my opinion the actors aren't even great. Also, Kristen Stewart is a clumsy, weird child! She is so odd. I think she was high the whole time. Did anyone notice how she kept looking down at the ground and hugging herself in an awkward way? She just... seemed out of place! Also, none of the actors in that movie can act. The movie itself isn't a work of art. They shouldn't be winning ANY awards because they don't deserve them. If anybody deserves those awards it would be Stephanie Meyer. I'm not even sure she deserves them! I believe The Dark Night deserved most of the awards. That movie was incredible. In the end, they were voted on because they were part of a teen's fantasy story and some actors/actresses were good looking (Kristen is weird, not that good looking). If I have insulted anyone, I am sorry but I have to speak up. All the awards were unfair and ridiculous. I am starting to think most American teenage girls don't use their heads. They voted because they felt like it. They didn't give it a thought. I've heard this word before: Airheads. Yeah, that's what they are. If you've read this and I have insulted you, sorry but that's all I'm going to say.

I went and saw the movie too...the books are exactly the same. Its the first time I have ever seen a screen adaption from the novel that is an exact replica.

I think the screen writers must have been scratching their heads while trying to eject some emotional depth into the characters! In a world based on how good you look, and how nothing but what you want 'right now' matters, it's hard to 'fill out' enough for a movie! Can you imagine what Joss Whedon, or for that matter, JK Rowling could have done wih this story?

I hear the last book is so vacuous (immortal stone baby and a cottage where they live forever) that the actors are hedging about signing contracts to complete the movie series. Is that true? Honestly, you have to read these novels. The last one in particular is a hoot!

@Gottarhyme..

Love the post. I have to give you credit. There is no WAY that I would subject myself to reading that series, even if just to see what all the fuss is about. Maybe now these teens can actually pick up a GREAT vampire tale (the original Dracula) and see the classic character.

I don't watch the MTV awards, as they are actually , as has been said, a 'heart throb' voting contest for teenage girls. Having said that, I have read the TWILIGHT series, to see what all the fuss was about, and have come to the conclusion that the reason for their popularity is that none of the characters care about anything but their own immediate needs, and this is very appealing to the youth of today. Who doesn't dream of being 16, married with an immortal baby and staying forever young and ditching Mum, Dad and all responsibility like getting an education, a job, or being a valued member of society?

It is a fantasy that appeals to girls who wish their own boyfriends were as perfect as Edward. Girls are sick of monosyllabic boys who only want to use them and throw them away. At the same time, young girls are being pushed to grow up faster, become sex kittens at age 12, while their brains are ill-equipped to deal with the reality of what a 'forever' committment entails, so they rationalise it with a romantic ideal.

TWILIGHT is a passing fad. If nothing else, it has encouraged girls lift their noses out of trashy mags long enough to read a book without pictures in it. Eventually they may be encouraged to read better literature, and grow into critical thinkers as a result.

When Dark Knight came out, I was SURE that it would SWEEP these awards, even every GIRL liked this Batman movie and this so much more of a cult phenomenon than Twilight. But then, Twilight came out and the popular vote switched. What a disgrace.

teo it's funny you said "any awards show that relies on online voting should not be taken seriously," but to be honest any award show period shouldn't be taken serious. Online voting for MTV awards means a crap ton of 12 year old girls vote for twilight. Oscars means a group large group of crusty far left leaning people get together and pick the most liberal films of the year. The only award shows I have ever liked are the ones on Spike TV and even those have their problems. Seriously the main point is that online voting for awards isn't any less valid than a group of old idealistic people picking what movies they liked.

Oh and yes twilight was a bad movie and I read half of the actual book and it was just as bad as the film I couldn't even finish it had to give it to my 10 year old niece who can't really read very well, but still loves it. Come to think of it that's probably why.

teo it’s funny you said “any awards show that relies on online voting should not be taken seriously,” but to be honest any award show period shouldn’t be taken serious. Online voting for MTV awards means a crap ton of 12 year old girls vote for twilight. Oscars means a group large group of crusty far left leaning people get together and pick the most liberal films of the year. The only award shows I have ever liked are the ones on Spike TV and even those have their problems. Seriously the main point is that online voting for awards isn’t any less valid than a group of old idealistic people picking what movies they liked.

MTV is the fluid that is excreted by the bug that is on the bottom of my steel-toed boots.
Sacha is what I would use to scrape it off. In addition, I too would have kicked his ass and then if he tried to have me charged for assault and battery I'd sue his ass for sexual harassment.

That's all I have on the matter.

So the MTV movie awards is basically the exact copy of the Kids choice & Teen awards except they have profanity and sexuality so that they can be "edgy" Shame.

And come on, "Best fight should have gone to Bale & Ledger" huh? What fight, it was one guy beating up another. Actually none of those fights were what one would clasify as fights! I remember when the MTV awards was actually something, it was different but it held merit back in my day...now, shyte as the Irish say.

And Sacha has to go back to his Ali G character, by far the best one out of all three!

Glad you didn't take offense Oscar. :D

As for MTV, the last time I watched that network, and this is showing my age, is when Beavis and Butthead was on. That show used to crack me up...especially the video commentaries. LOL.

Youth is wasted on the young. ;)

But to be honest, completely unsurprising. As soon as I saw MTV I knew I wouldn't like it.
The one that annoys me the most is best fight - Hellboy and the prince fighting on spinning cogs and they don't win!

As for Sacha Baron Cohen, maybe one day people will realize what a one trick pony he is.
Hopefully soon.
