Maybe I’m just out of touch with today’s youth culture, but as I look over this “winners list” from the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, I can’t help but feel like a crotchety old man who complains about the kids today with their loud music and funny ways of talking. The Twilight Saga wiped the floor with the competition, proving that vampire romance is the current king of pop culture, for better or worse.
In the interest of fairness, Screen Rant presents the complete list of winners from the 2009 MTV Movie Awards. Be wary, though: your head may explode as you read which actors and films lost to Twilight.

Maybe I’m being unfair to the MTV Movie Awards – after all, these winners were chosen by fan votes, reflecting the democratic consensus of America’s youth. Hell, maybe Zac Efron WAS a better male performer than Robert Downey Jr. or Christian Bale, and maybe Twilight WAS a better film than The Dark Knight, Iron Man, or even Slumdog Millionaire (after all, what is an Oscar for Best Picture compared to an MTV online poll?). And Miley Cyrus beating out Bruce Springsteen in a Best Song category? Makes total sense to me!!!
I’m too old to spend more than five minutes watching MTV these days but some (read: two) highlights from last night’s Awards broadcast included a never-before-seen clip from Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen and the long-awaited debut of the first trailer for The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Other than that…

I liked Twilight, but… not that much.
I’m not one bit suprised that “Twilight” one “best movie” b/c the whole audience was tween girls….oh well its a good thing this show is meaningless. I couldn’t even watch the entire show. I had to leave when the presenters for “Best WTF Moment” came on b/c they were sooo annoying. I’m just glad I got to see the footage for “Transformers Revenge of the Fallen” within the first 15 minutes.
This is ridiculous. The only time Twilight was nominated and didn’t win was for best song.
Oh, and Jim Carrey in Yes Man was no where near as funny as James Franco in Pineapple Express.

Don’t get your PSPs all twisted up, you teens, I was kidding. All those winners have to be a joke, except for Heath Ledger’s Joker. I had no desire to see any of those films and the little I saw of Twilight made me yawn. Next thing we’ll see is the US government buying out Hollywood and then all we’ll see are green films about how Conservatives are destroying the world.

I didn’t even know MTV was relevant anymore. Their “awards” are even more useless to me than Twilight itself. Actually, pretty much ANY award is useless to me. That was proved to me a long time ago when Jethro Tull won a Grammy for best METAL band over Metallica.
790 in order for it to be considered Teen choice there would of had to be teens voting I think your giving the voters for that show to much credit. The awards sucked, but I will say the show it’s self was funny. I loved Eminem being a little bitch and the Classical rendition of Dick in a box was awesome.

Ima Twi-Hard and these wins just show how deticated and loyal us fans are to Twilight…I loved other movies in the categories, but i am in love with Twilight, the books EXCELLENT, and jus to see it portrayed at all no matter how flawed is jus unreal…So if Iron or Dark Knight had fans as good as Twilight then they would have won, We twilighters love Twilight and we will alwasy support it…

Don’t feel like a crotchety old man Kofi, I’m 18 and I hated just about every winner from the awards show last night also. The only ones I can say that I honestly wouldn’t change would be Ledger as best villain, but that one is obvious even those tween girls knew he should win.
Seriously though, the awards show was ok at best(skit wise) and the winners for the categories were horrible. I don’t know if I’ll ever watch another MTV movie awards show again which means I might not watch MTV again since that and occasional reruns of Jackass are the only reasons I would watch the channel. =/
