The San Diego Comic-Con is a month away and I am STOKED! Last year was stressful as hell for me at the Con because I was covering it single-handed for Screen Rant as well as doing Iron Man coverage for Advanced Iron, the premiere Iron Man fan site.
This year I’m only covering it for you guys right here, plus our master of flowery prose, Bruce Simmons will be there to help. He’s going to get a crash course in covering movie panels live.

If you’re interested in attending, the 4-day passes and Saturday single-day tickets are all sold out. You can still get single day tix for Thursday, Friday and Sunday (click here for more info about the Con). If you’re a regular reader here at Screen Rant and you plan on attending let us know and we’ll try to arrange a get-together. It opens with a preview night on Wednesday July 23rd and runs through Sunday the 27th and takes place smack-dab in the middle of beautiful downtown San Diego at the Convention Center on the bay.
IESB.net is always a big player at this event and they’ve gotten the scoop on some of what’s already been scheduled for coverage. With the writers’ strike this year I was concerned that there wouldn’t be a whole lot going on at the Con this year as far as movies are concerned, but things are shaping up nicely.
Among the movies that will have a presence there are Ninja Assassin, Star Wars: Clone Wars, Terminator 4, Watchmen, Topic Thunder, Punisher: War Zone, Death Race and more! BTW, I can’t imagine Paramount won’t have something to offer up for the Star Trek fans that will be in attendance.
One of the panels I’ll be sure to attend will also be the Masters of the Web which will have a bunch of my movie site homeboys up on stage including IESB, CHUD, Latino Review, Ain’t It Cool News, Movie Web, The Movie Blog, Dark Horizons, JoBlo, Cinematical and Bloody-Disgusting. Whew! (Maybe if we keep jamming here at Screen Rant we’ll be worthy of being up there next year.)
For more details on what movies and which actors will be at the Comic-Con check out the full scoop at IESB.

I will be attending for the week…my friend and I are actually getting to SD the Tuesday prior for some downtime…I wouldn’t mind a Screen Rant gathering of the minds….
Man,
If only I could be there!
Niall
Unfortunately i didnt get the saturday tickets ,
But i will be there thursday friday and sunday .
Come one, come all I say! It will be fun to meet everyone.
Uh, crash course? Uh ho.
I’d love to be there, doubt if I’ll make it tho (I’ll keep trying!!! :p). :/
However, it’s great to know that the good folks here at SR will be providing PLENTY of coverage, I’ll be tuning in very often to see what’s up.
Vic, Bruce, I know you guys will be VERY busy, but please try and find out what’s up with DC’s movie schedule. JLA, MOS, The Flash, GL — WB/DC should make some type of announcement regarding those projects at the con.
It’s funny tho….comic con isn’t really that focused on comics anymore, is it? It’s more like movie con…..kinda. :/
Hahaha Bruce, sounds like work…?
Sadly Vic I don’t think I’m going to make it this year. I didn’t realise the Saturday tickets were allready sold out.
The Venue also seems to have moved deeper south to Downtown SD.
O-well, it will be fun to get the reports from the show and saving the 300 bucks is also fun.
Try to have a good time and don’t stress this year.
Have fun Vic!
I really wish I could go! I’m excited for a lot of the movies they’ll be talking about. But alas, not this year…
It would be great to meet you guys, but I live in Maryland. If you are ever in DC, let me know.
I’m in Connecticut and I’m making the trip, come on people…mail yourself in a box or hop trains like the hobos used to do….
I’m gonna try to make it to the Baltimore MD comic con later this year. I live in PA, FYI….
Still, I’d love to make it to the San Diego Comic Con. But I’ll probably be stuck here watching the lousy coverage the folks at G4 provide on the event. :p
Anyone see the “Comic Book Movie?” I just picked it up on dvd.
I havnt watched it yet, but its a documentary on the Comic Com. Hosted by Luuuuuke himself (Mark Hammel).
Looks kinda cool. Maybe I’ll save that for the weekend of the show, power down some beers put it on and pretend I’m there. ??? ;-).
Hey is that Vic in the background???
I’ve heard of it, 790, haven’t seen it yet, I’ve wanted to check it out for sometime.
Mark Hammil is awesome. He’s really a great guy and a huge comics fan.
Lemme know how that is.
And yes, that’s Vic’s picture. The handsome devil.

Ghessh I mispelled lukes name!!!
Yeah KEL, Hammil is a class act.
I will for sure give you a review.
Oh I know that’s Vic, LoL.
I was just joking that after a few beers I might see him in the movie. Maybe in the background.
Vic
LOL and thanks, 790.
lol Vic, no just some confusion.
I was saying that I’ll be watching the Comic Book Movie and that maybe I’ll see you in the background. It was shot at Comic Con a few years ago.
KEL thought I was talking about your classic Maui headshot, btw, is that a trader joes shirt? Jk.
OOHHH…. Ouch….
Aren’t Trader Joes shirts more flowery anyway??
as for “lousy” G4 coverage…at least someone is covering it, the best it got prior to that was an occasional mention on MTV or E!….
Hmmm….good point, Mat D. I didn’t mean to come off as ungrateful sounding, it’s just the hosts really piss me off, and it irks me that they don’t give the actual comic books (or comics films) as much coverage as they do video games, computers, internet, movies etc. What I’d really like tho is a Comic Book Channel. Why hasn’t that been done yet? We have channles for everything these days, and with all the movie attention comics are getting, I don’t get why this hasn’t been done yet.
