In the buddy cop/twisty crime thriller 2 Guns, a pair of bank robbers turn out to be officers of the DEA and Naval Intelligence – unfortunately, neither one knows the other is an undercover agent. When the rivals discover the mix-up, they also find out that the "big heist" that exposed their cover was a set-up designed to sow inter-agency strife. Now they have to team back up to figure out who's really pulling the strings and how to avoid getting caught in the crossfire.

2 Guns is directed by Baltasar Kormákur (Contraband) from the Boom Studios-published comic book by Steven Grant. Denzel Washington (Flight) and Mark Wahlberg (Transformers 4) headline a cast that also includes James Marsden (30 Rock), Bill Paxton (Haywire), and Edward James Olmos (Battlestar Galactica).

The lengthy first trailer for 2 Guns seemingly falls into the "tells the entire movie" category, up to and including plot points that might have come as genuine twists in the film itself. Naturally, even a three-minute trailer isn't enough to spoil an entire feature film – but this one seems to tick off the structure of the movie beat by beat.

All this said, the preview indicates a good comic rapport between Washington and Wahlberg. In addition, the usual buddy-cop hijinks seem to be laced with a genuine undercurrent of suspicion and possible backstabbing, which helps undercut 2 Guns' fairly clichéd initial premise. For all we know, Wahlberg and Washinton could end up one of this year's best onscreen team-ups.
