James Franco 127 Hours 1 New Trailer and Poster for Danny Boyles 127 Hours

Following the first trailer for the Danny Boyle-directed 127 Hours, Fox Searchlight has released a second, more in-depth trailer, as well as a striking new poster for the film.

127 hours stars James Franco (Spider-Man franchise) as real-life adventurer Aron Ralston who [SPOILER!] got himself trapped under a rock for (you guessed it) 127 hours before he was forced to cut off his own arm with a knife in order to survive.

The first trailer made the film look like a fun adventure film before revealing Aron’s dilemma right near the end. However, this second trailer clues us in on that disaster a lot quicker and spends a lot of time focused on the harrowing experience of Aron being trapped and his recording of that desperate situation on his video camera.

Check out the effective new trailer as well as the arresting new poster below:

Anyone who knows the tragic real-life story of Aron Ralston will go into 127 Hours knowing the inevitable outcome. However, I suspect the film will make it just as much (if not more) about the journey and experience Aron went through as it will be about the destination he arrived at.

It’s great to see Franco take on more diverse roles than he’s previously been known for, with recent examples being Pineapple Express (for which he was rightfully nominated for a Golden Globe) and the Oscar-nominated Milk. And, just like Ryan Reynolds in Buried, 127 Hours looks to be a vehicle in which Franco can really prove his acting ability in that it is (save for a few supporting characters) a one-man-show.

127 Hours is released in theaters on November 5th, 2010.

  1. i think this movie will be really good! trust me i will see it :) james franco is awesome! btw he got nominated for a golden globe for pinapple express? i guess his performance was good, cause the movie was so aweful! same with get him to the greek, bad comedy! ( i know it does not feature franco but i’ve just seen it and i thought i’d mention it)

    • I laughed myself silly at pretty much all of Pineapple Express. That fight scene had me in STITCHES when I saw it in the cinema.

    • I think that Ryan Reynolds is gonna get a nomination for his role in Buried. I guess these “trapped in one place” movies bring out the best in actors! ;)

  2. I highly recommend reading “Between a rock and a hard place”, the book that documents Aron’s encounter with his own mortality. Brilliantly written with tons of insight into the guy, but not for the sqeemish…

  3. Im reading that book right now, its really gripping so far. And the movie has only gotten rave reviews so im definitely excited for it.

  4. Looks good film cant wait to see it, James Franco good actor. Think if they did bring back the joker in the Batman series he would be a good pick as the joker.

  5. Looks great, anyone else notice the hourglass in the poster?

And Ross I doubt that Reynolds will get a nomination.

  6. This looks awesome! I remeber on 20/20 or 60 minutes or somthing that had and interview with Ralston and the went to the site of the accident with him and he walked them his same journey. It was really amazing to see him go back to the spot and do it again.

  7. Man and I just nominated Franco for the Riddler on a Batman 3 thread, and what did I get told, that he is overrated and it would ruin the film, if anything he is underrated.

  8. IMO I thought “Slumdog” was the most over rated best picture winner since “Shakesphere In Love” and I never was to big of a Danny Boyle fan but this looks absolutely amazing. James Franco has developed into an amazing actor. This is an absolute must see.
