  1. with the exception of eddie murphy’s entry, i’d say this list is spot on!

  2. Really? TDKR being a terrible movie!?! Bull! It wasn’t as good as The Dark Knight but it sure as hell was better previous superhero movie sequels. Need I remind you Spider-Man 3?

    • They’re all bad movies. Christian Bale growls his lines when he’s got the Batman suit on. ooo scary!

The last one was particularly horrible. When Bane started talking I honest thought his voice was a joke.

  3. I’ve only seen one of these movies on this list,The Chernobyl Diaries, and I’m glad I haven’t seen any of the rest of them.

As for honorable mentions,I did see Underworld:Awakening and while I didn’t think this one was as good as the previous three, any movie with Kate running around in skin tight latex,I’m all for it.

  4. Wow, so glad that I am discerning about what movies I spend my money on. I can proudly say that I saw NONE of those movies on the list!!!

    • Same here I didn’t see any of them.

      • Come on, Snow white and the huntsman was no where on here.

    • yup have not seen any of the movies on the list they must be pretty bad

    • Thank god I didn’t see any of them. They all looked crappy in my case lol

    • Thank god I didn’t see any of them. They all looked crappy in my case lol.

    • Same here! Which obviously means I can’t exactly judge the list, but I’ll just assume they’re pretty spot on :)

I mean, Time’s list is seriously pretty whack.

  5. Call me stupid but That’s My Boy was the funniest movie of the year. I usually hate raunchy comedy ( it’s the easy way out honestly) but it was funny.

Prometheus just let a lot of ppl down with the end product. Yes it was visually stunning but that does not make it a good movie (Avatar). I think we all just had high hopes that were not fulfilled.

TDKR was one of the best movies of the year so please stop that argument.

Everything else on this list is okay for me.
Hey Screenrant your next feature should be ” Does Eddie Murphy actually likes the movies he makes”

    • I agree with you about That’s My Boy. My family and I died lauguind when we saw it. It was one of the best things we saw last year.

  6. I think a lot of what we think about a movie has to do with expectations. I didn’t like The Dark Knight Rises because I had high expectations going into it, and that made me all the more disappointed after I watched it. I expected something with the same standards as the previous two, and I was left very wanting.

For films like The Watch, That’s My Boy, Ghost Rider 2 and Chernobyl Diaries (just to name some on this list) my expectations were not very high (especially with That’s My Boy, due to Sandler’s last few movies being quite bad, though I was still hopefully optimistic). I think that’s why I found all of those movies fairly enjoyable. I wasn’t expecting a lot, and for what they were, I found them amusing.

Do I think that TDKR is a better movie than all the ones I just listed? Yes. But I didn’t come away from any of those movies nearly as let down as I did from TDKR.

I also thought A Thousand Words was pretty bad, but Eddie Murphy’s performance in it was great.

  7. Men in Black 3, but it was better than the first 2. Dredd was a slow motion let down. If you took the drug parts out, or sped those sequences up, the movie wouldn’t last an hour. Battleship was the worst example of Michael Bay’s influence on movies. Total Recall was total crap, too. Who’s making these movies? Directors and writers or the special effects department? So many of these newer movies go for the 3-d treatment because of the millions they dumped into those theaters. If you want 3-d, play a video game. Today’s movies are the only movies future movie makers will see first. When you think of the history of movies, and how there is a whole generation of people who have never seen say, Breakfast Club or Blazing Saddles uncut, it’s hard to see things improving. Breakfast Club is mentioned because of the edited versions lack of a locker scene. Who cares about the elephant lamp and the tapped buns, it was the element that got them to that point being missed to add to the effect we understand, which isn’t that stellar anyway. Blazing Saddles, Watch AMC to see the fart scene cut out. So, these newer, fancier movies will look cool, but all of the elements of good storytelling will be removed because it was never stressed to begin with, especially with commercial audiences, “violent crimes on the news all day, but my child isn’t gonna be exposed to drugs in schools and fart jokes”. Nope, today’s humor requires a commercial audience, with plot-lines and punchlines based on modern conveniences.

    • AMC…the network that airs the Walking Dead and Breaking Bad…cuts out that scene from Blazing Saddles? Is that true? Seems unlikely to me, but I don’t watch movies on cable with commercials because they are edited for time. Anyone else know if what Xander says is true?

  8. Apparition is mildly saved by chick in her undies half the movie

  9. Shouldnt Battleship be on this list?

  10. Why do people think Jennifer Lawrence is any good??? I saw that crapfest Hunger Games and all I can say is that I would’ve rather seen “The Stupids” with Tom Arnold than that movie… Another puffy faced actress…

  11. The Devil Inside was worse then The Apparition. At least Apparition had a decent cast but a lackluster execution.

  12. I saw 4 of these movies (as well as one of the honorable mentions) and I can honestly say this list is extremely accurate!
I also saw 4 of the movies on Time’s list. They were pretty accurate too!

There were certainly worse movies out there last year (ie. I didn’t see Mirror Mirror on either list), but these were right there at the top.

  13. Haha I was expecting if Kofi wrote this that The Apparition would be at the top of the list. Seeing that two Screen Rant writers agree this moive is trash, I kind of want to see it. If not just to see what all the hub bub is about. I wonder if Ben is still gonna watch this as part of his Box office battle punishment.

  14. QUIT BRINGING UP TDKR!!!! IT WAS GREAT—MOVE ON

Didn’t see any of these films. Almost went to see Jennifer Lawrence’s film because… well, she was in it. Reading the book was the best bet.

  15. As long as Kate Beckinsale can fit into that leather suit, they should never stop making Underworld movies. As for the rest, I did not watch a single one of them except Pirana 3DD and I guess this justifies my decision.

  16. IM glad I don’t listen to critics. I thought The Raven was marvelous. I have seen most of the rest of this list too except the Eddie Murphy movie and I can agree with most of it. Just not The Raven. I also liked Gone a little bit more, but I understand why you brought up the character not being true to herself. I’m just glad Cloud Atlas was not on your list, I would have started prepping the Donkey Punch!!!

  17. Why do people hate on John Carter so much it wasn’t bad, Disney just didn’t know how to market it so it lost a lot of money. And TDKR was good but at the same time Nolan broke his mold when he said this was a Batman based in the real world. And The Watch was pretty good they delivered where I didn’t expect them to those Aliens looked sick and it had some funny moments to it. If we are judging it on if it was funny the whole way through or not then why not judge movies like TDKR on if it had legit action or the story actually caught me off guard lol or even the fact that Nolan ruined the opportunity to make 2 really badass Batman movies without sticking to his realistic versions and then blowing the last one way out into fantasy island. Why not judge movies on what they are supposed to be and not what we wish they were.

  18. I haven’t seen any on SR’s list, but I saw 4 on Times list. Based on what I saw, One for the Money is the worst movie of the year.

  19. I haven’t seen any of the movies on your list, and haven’t seen the Time’s list but I can imagine that at least those movies people at least went to see.

  20. IDK why Battleship didn’t make either list.

  21. Look..Chernobil.. was ok..At least i wasnt boring like PA 4 or Devil inside

  22. Look at least i wasnt boring with CHERNOBIL….Like PARANORMAL..4 or Devil inside

  23. I liked The Raven. It was one of the best things I saw in the last year. I think it is extremely unfair to have it on this list. TDKR was excellent and so was Prometheus. They just built the expectations too high with Prometheus. I agree whole heartedly with The Devil Within being on here and I wish the Paranormal Activity people would just stop making movies. The first Paranormal Activity sucked bad enough.

  24. Totally disagree,I thought the movie “The Raven” was great!

  25. Why is The Raven on the list I though it was a good movie.

  26. Judge dredd lol real crap

  27. Judge dredd lol real waste of time
