Empty Movie Theater Worst Movies of 2010 The 10 Worst Movies Of 2010

Did you regret spending money on an awful movie this year? Are you aching to share your thoughts on the head-shaking, face-slapping, run-for-the-door flops of 2010? This is your chance – but not until we give you our choices of the 10 worst movies of 2010.

The box office had its fair share of behemoths this year, but not all were well-received by fans and critics. Poor movies come in all different styles – some are filled with explosions and fancy CGI meant to distract you from the weak plot, while others beg for laughs with humorless jokes. Those two types of theatrical failures, and more, are accounted for in our list.

(Don’t forget to vote in our poll on the last page of this article!)

10. Grown Ups

A handful of the best comedians of the 90s finally made their passion project. Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider, Chris Rock, Kevin James and David Spade are apparently a close-knit group of comics whose main goal over the past few years has been to join up for an ensemble comedy. Unfortunately, the result of that effort was Grown Ups – a sloppy mess designed for the wrong audience.

Grown Ups would have a chance if the comedians took a look at what made them famously hilarious in the first place – raunchy humor. Just about all of the big careers in this film were made by pushing the limits – even co-star Salma Hayek. Instead of producing a family-friendly camping adventure comedy in the same vein as Dr. Doolittle 2, a touch of the old school would have been the smart move for Grown Ups.

Adam Sandler has been a part of some comedy misfires in his time, but there is always that faint hope of a resurgence to his old form. The same goes for most of the cast of Grown Ups. The movie was just another nail in the coffin of careers nobody wants to see dwindle.

  1. Before I even clicked on this list I knew Furry Vengence (thankfully) was going to be #1. Dreadful, just dreadful.

  2. My worst:

    Iron Man 2
    The Tooth Fairy

    • IM2?? Really? You hated it that much?

      • Yes. Especially when it had the potential to one of the year’s best movies.

  3. I can gladly say the only films on that list I saw was SKYLINE. I thought it was OK only b/c I’m a sucker for aliens destroying the world. It’s still a bad film though.

  4. You forgot Legion…..

  5. Thankfully I’ve not seen any of these movies was gonna see skyline till I read the review on here glad I saved my money. As for the fockers movies I hated the first one just not funny so didn’t see the second one all so not surprised that the 3rd one would suck

Just missing twilight on that list imo

  6. Well, I’ve only seen one movie on this list and that’s Last Airbender… which was my worse movie of 2010.

    Here’s my list:

    1. Last Airbender (1.5/10)
    2. Splice (3/10)
    3. Daybreakers (3/10)
    4. A Nightmare on Elm Street (3.5/10)
    5. Eclipse (4/10)

    • You didn’t like Splice or Daybreakers? I loved them both and thought they were brilliant. Splice is one of my favorite Horror movies of the year lol.

      • I’ve got that from a lot of people.. guess I was just expecting something else

    • Yes, Splice was absolutely terrible. Thank you for bringing that up.

  7. Hey folks, I added a poll to the last page (should have done that prior to publishing).

  8. Little Fockers shouldn’t even be on the list it wasnt that bad actually. Furry vengeance was bad but to me Vampires Sucks should be #1. I saw one scene from that movie and thats all it took. The rest I agree with. Only other change would be grown ups id replace it with Nightmare on Elm street since that film upset me so much.

  9. I have to ask, did anyone on this site actually see GULLIVER’S TRAVEL? Excluding the fact that Jack Black is one of the most annoying actors today, the film just looks dumb.

    • Little Monster,

Yes, Mike, who wrote the article, saw it.

      • lmao! :)

well i may go see it soon but im not looking forward to it.

        • Wait, but you love JB I would have thought that you would be the first in line for this lol.

          • Well yeah but the plot is not very entertaining. lol.

    • I watched with my kids the day after christmas and no one had a good time at it. I was supposed to review it but between holiday, family and work responsibilties I wasn’t able to get it written :(

If you’ve seen the trailer then sadly you’ve seen the entire film…pretty sad actually.

  10. U missed Dinners f0r Shmucks…its very aweful

  11. I actually really liked Grown Ups, thought it was hilarious until the last 15 minutes with the basketball game. Then it drug on. And I was actually relieved to see it was a comedy that I could watch with my 14 year old daughter. Push the envelope? Don’t we have enough of that already in Hollywood? It wouldn’t have been nearly as enjoyable if they went that route. I would replace that one with Machete, though, I guess that makes sense not being on the list since it “pushed the envelope.”

As for the rest of the list, I can gladly say that I saw none of them and I’m happier for it.

  12. I can honestly say I have avoided most of these stinkers, for the few on the list i did see,the film makers should be ashamed that they ever released this crap to the public.

  13. I’ve only seen “The Last Airbender” from those on the list.

Benefits of being the boss – I don’t have to see everything. :-D

    • I was going to rent THE LAST AIRBENDER despite the horrible reviews, but I saw parts of it at work, and that completely turned me off to it.

    • “It’s good to be the King” huh Vic? :)

  14. The only film I saw was skyline, and it was crap. My wallet thanks me.

  15. The only movie on this list that I saw was Grown-Ups and I didn’t think it was bad at all! It was a good family-style comedy on the 4th of July weekend and it delivered plenty of laughs in my book.
I didn’t see Vampires Suck, but I wouldn’t put it on this list. Everyone knows those movies aren’t even taken seriously by the people who make them, but I still think they’re fun. I can honestly say that I’ve enjoyed Disaster Movie, Superhero Movie, Meet the Spartans, and Dance Flick. Also… I am a 16 year old male, but I still understand that those aren’t good movies.

And now I kinda want to see Furry Vengeance just to see how terrible it is.

  16. I actually really enjoyed Grown Ups. Sure, it is not the best movie any of these guys have done. But, it was good for what it was. I hate Kevin James though. I don’t know he’s just not funny to me. And you know what? I saw The Last Airbender and didn’t think it was as bad as people were making it out to be. Granted I have never seen the cartoon!

    • I thought the Last Airbender was alright. It had some positives.

      • Basically that’s the only movie that I saw on this list. I kind of stay away from movie that I might find not theatre worthy.

Believe I will view these movies some time in the future, well when there available on cable.

  17. “The only person in any family that might find this movie funny is the uncle that still uses his noisy farts as a source for laughs.”

Oh come on, noisy farts ARE comedy! Why the hateful comparison?

  18. I would have put Salt on the list, that movie was garbage!

  19. I haven’t seen a single movie on this list. I wanted to see “Repo Man” because of the seemingly interested plot. But after that brief synopsis, it might be a ‘It’s on a movie channel and I’m not doing anything but paying my bills right now’ kind of movie.

    • See Repo: The Genetic Opera before you see Repo Men. I honestly haven’t seen Repo Men but, after everything i’ve heard, it’s basically a ripoff of Repo: The Genetic Opera. Granted, Repo IS a musical but it’s still a freakin awesome movie.

  20. Very surprised Boondock Saints II is not on this list as it was the only movie this year that I A) wanted to see and B) walked out of.

    • NVM that was released late last year…but still, a crapola of a movie. FOR SHAME!

      • Yes it was….

  21. Marmaduke
    Clash of the titans
    Alice in wonderland
    shrek 4

    • Ohhhh…. Marmaduke. Haven’t seen it but it looked AWFUL.

      • oww vic please dont ever see it. It was really awful, even my 4 year old said she hated it, (which is the last thing you want to hear when you spend £14.50 on the tickets)

Good list by the way very enjoyable read

  22. Only saw Repo Men and Grown Ups from this list (same weekend actually too, rented both of them). I didn’t care for Grown Ups, thought the storyline was really weak, the biggest plot was the basketball game and that was only touched on in the first five minutes and last ten. Repo Men wasn’t bad top-ten worthy in my opinion, wasn’t good but had it’s moments. My surprise was not seeing McGrubber on here, didn’t see it but all I heard was how terrible it was. Might be the low expectations of an SNL-based movie that saved if from the list.

  23. “Vampires Suck is a product of the MTV culture that has forced music videos out of the station and replaced it with insanely awful reality television”

    Best line ever!

Not only that but you hit the nail on the head. Every time I walked out of one of these movies and told myself “Worst movie ever!” You have listed. Way to go Mike!

    You did miss Marmaduke though…

    • Haha, thanks man. I cOMPLETELY forgot about maybe an honorary addition?

  24. I’m so proud of myself for managing to avoid the theatrical releases of all these movies. I’m finally managing to get a handle on avoiding bad movies. Sadly I still went to see Resident Evil Afterlife, which I would have put at least at #10. I honestly have no idea what I was expecting from that movie. The previous movie sucked, the director sucks, the writer sucks, the characters suck which all leads to the logical conclusion that the movie will suck. I’m a little biased though since I like the games and I just desperately want the movie series to stop being used by Anderson to give his wife work.

    • Actually Milla Jovovich is the only reason I watch any of the Resident Evil movies.

  25. No love, or rather hate, for “Cop Out?”

    • Christian,

Dammit. Even with over a half dozen of us coming up with movies for the list behind the scenes, it seems inevitably something gets missed…

  26. Even if you haven’t seen Avatar the Last Airbender, Last Airbender is worst film I’ve seen this year and possibly worst adaptation ever.

If ever become a director, I’m rebooting the hell out of that movie. That’s how terrible it is. I loved that show and Shamalayan destroyed it.

  27. well I don’t care because I’ve ignored all these movies lol

  28. There’s nothing wrong with Katherine Heigl at all – she is one of the hottest looking actresses around, she just needs the right role , yes she does need a change of direction something more action orientated perhaps, a part with a bit more edge to it. She would have proved to be more attractive than Jolie did if she got the lead in Salt that’s for sure.

As for the list I think that Kick Ass and Devil also need to be added.

    • You may have something there. Heigl doesn’t work well in romantic comedies because she has a hard edged meanness to her personality. But as a kickass action character she might work well.

  29. My #1 worst movie for 2010 is: Narnia – Dawn Treader.

I’m sure there are others that are MUCH worse, but my list only includes the movies I have actually seen.

I’m very particular about my films so if I’ve paid to watch a stinker that means I’ve been thouroughly duped (by myself, others or a deceptive trailer).
